All my regular games have gotten stale and nothing new interests me at all. Don't you hate when that happens? What to do now?

@narlymech: Perhaps you should think outside the box on the games you usually buy, the zeitgeists you follow, or genres you have as a comfort-zone.
Try something different to your norm.
With that; giving context on the games lacking your interest may help the board direct you in something fun and different :)

Happens to me all the time. Fortunately I have so many games in the back log from ps plus, that I can try those out. I'm still hooked on Monster Hunter World and doubt I'll get sick of it anytime soon. God of War is right around the corner so that'll hopefully take at least 30 hrs of my time, maybe more with side missions. If I really can't find anything to play, I'll go back to an old game I know I love, usually a tower defense game like Savage Moon and have fun with that.
Try VR seriously if you haven't it will probably blow your mind I know this gen has been meh but for me VR has made this generation special. I got a Oculus and play alot of old games in VR using a third party driver it's amazing revisiting your favorite old games in VR. Playing Mirror's Edge and F.E.A.R. in VR for the first time was extremely euphoric.

yeah...chills even!
I play Elite Dangerous in VR from time to time, I am used to the amazingness of it now that I am no longer awestruck but back in the day..wow
@narlymech: question... Do you play the same games every year? FPS, 3rd person action?
Yeah, I've mostly played FPS, with an occasional other game like RPG.
absolutely you need to just expand your horizons.
dont be afraid...just do it, its not a violation or against the law or like cheating on your wife to check out some titles off your normal radar.
@narlymech: I could be wrong, but this is the problem. You're playing in a genre that has been beaten to death... It offers very little parity and the market is over saturated... So in essence what you're doing is buying the new hot shooter, playing it for a bit and realizing it feels 95 percent the same as the last FPS you played... Maybe the gag in this one is you can run on walls or fly but it's the same experience. The brain is being given nothing new to really enjoy...
Open world games have this going on as well...
My suggestion is not that you've become tired of games but that you are sick of pretending that these big budget AAA games are offering you any real parity... Please explore the indie scene... Please explore genres you haven't touched in a while. Stop buying FPS games for a while... Also don't believe the hype. Go with what looks good to you.
@TheEroica: The problem here is that you can replace FPS with whatever style of game you like and it would be true.
Recently I turned off trophies notification on PS4 and Vita because I discovered that I played for them ... and just discovered that I barely like the games I played in the past 2 gens. To many games aren't even worth a second playthrough because they are all about the reaction or the game is so long because of grinding stupid missions that meh.
That's why I have a varied set of game genres. If I'm not in the mood for a particular genre, that means I'm in the mood for another.
@clefdefa: absolutely... Its spending too much time in any one genre that will get to you after a while.
Its VERY important that people ignore the big hyped games every now and again and focus on the new and inventive games that challenge our minds a bit. To simply sit behind a gun and pull the right trigger for the next 50 years of gaming seems like a waste
Maybe you have grown out of video games. time to seek a new hobby to replace it.
I'll probably never find one better than gaming. Maybe I just need a good break from it and something new will interest me.
Yes, it could be the case where you have to change your gaming taste. By that I mean playing new franchises, genres or console exclusives.
@narlymech: Take a break from games and don't return until you literally have to. You will enjoy games that much more.
I took a break towards the end of the 360 life cycle. But that was probably because it last too long and I should have upgraded earlier.
Just stop playing games for now, something will drag you back and get engrossed in another game eventually.
I go through spells were I can go months hardly playing any games, then I can spend over 100 hours in a week if a certain game grabs me.
So stop gaming for now, stay up to date with gaming news and upcoming and eventually something will make you want to play.
