Vaas (Far Cry 3)- Wants to enslave or kill you the entire game. Has a joker-like attitude and demeanor. Antagonist who really made the game

Sephiroth (FF VII)- His music, attire, sword and hair. Everything about him has a badass feel and he wants to smash a meteor into your planet and asorb the energy from it. He's bad news.

The Joker (Arkham series)- Mark Hamill did some incredible voice acting making this iconic villain really come to life in the video games.

Handsome Jack (Borderlands 2)- He is a egotistical, pompous, murderoues, self-righteous, and jerk of a sociopath but makes one hell of a villain.

Kefka (FF VI)- Kefka is the most beautifully realised, nuanced, off-kilter, and flat-out terrifying villain in the entire history of Final Fantasy. Enough said.

What are some of your most memorable villains?

Just one. David, The last of Us. No one else comes close. As conflicted as I am over the Last of Us' game design, this section of the game is one of the most brilliant chapters in gaming history. David is believable and your time with him is incredibly well scripted. Even the fight at the end was so tense, and when Ellie starts hacking his shit up, you're right there with her. Very few times in gaming have I ever felt something towards an antagonist, mostly because the vast majority of game villains are caricatures of villainy, cartoon enemies. David isn't on a quest for world domination, he isn't some force hatched from the darkest depths and you don't need a magical whatchamacallit to kill him...he's just cruel in a way that only a human can be, and surviving him (because you can't call it a victory) is taxing, hard fought and satisfying.

Revolver Ocelot: "Six bullets. More than enough to kill anything that moves". Felt in love right there.

Sorry, But I disagree with The Joker Being a good video game villain, he's more of a plot device who barely has a presence in gameplay.

The Riddler and Scarecrow were way better.

I'll join in the choir of voices praising Kefka and his villainy. He was a fun game nemesis.

I'll also cite the Brotherhood of Nod, The Covenant, the Aliens from XCOM, and the Capital Wasteland's entire population as favorites of mine.

The riddler wasn't very intimidating to me.... "omg you have to do one of my puzzles" or "you're stuck in my trap" and then I was free.

Just as much of a "plot device" as the Joker.

The scarecrow was good.

The Riddler was intimidating. And even though you only see him once, his presence is always there in the form of Green trophies, just like Glados and her test chambers, whether pleasant or annoying he'l always be in the back of you're mind. The joker sends out his hench, who were no differen't from Two Face, Cobblepot and Strange's henchmen. Pretty underwhelming from The Worlds greatest super villain.

He isn't intimidating at all. Puzzles and traps are not intimidating nor were they meant to be. They didn't translate Joker's villainy very well into the gameplay on that I will agree. But his cut-scenes and voice bits were way more impacting than the Riddlers IMO.

I've never considered him "the World's greatest super villain" either.

I do consider him the worlds greatest super villain.

Anyway. The Riddler was intellectually intimidating. Plus his transition from comic book to video game character was well done, I'd like to think thats worth more than Mark Hamill's voice, The Joker's perfmormance only proves how far behind video game narrative is.

GLaDOS from portal 1. Although portal 2 was the better game in my opinion, I enjoyed GLaDOS a little more in portal 1 because of her more villainous role.

Fawful from the Mario rpgs is another great and funny villain.

I don't think I know any good serious villains though. I really want to play final fantasy 6.

Definitely kefka. I really enjoyed the scene where he confronts General Leo and starts sucking up all the espers for the hell of it. I think him and Sephiroth were the only bad guys to make a noticeable impression on me. Pyramid head is up there too

Kefka Palazzo, (the only one to accomplish what decades of comic book film and video game villains died trying to do...and strike a Jesus pose. smug bastard.)

Half-life barnacle (I love it when marines don't pay attention)

El Oscuro's 2nd transformation from 1994's Rise of the Triad (I'm not gonna lie. I shut off the pc monitor when I saw that for the first time.)

Vaas - Big shout to Mike Mondo. He seriously put it DOWN.

Cyber Akuma Marvel vs. Streetfighter (every....fucking....TIME!!! AAARRRRGGGHHH!!!!)

Scolar Visari and the Helghast (Blowing up their own home city just to take out ISA......now that's gangsta. Scrappy little mofos.)
