For as long as video gaming has been around, sports games have been coming out by the plenty year by year. But certain sports games from the past have seemed to transcend it's time, it's outdated roster, because, well, it's still fun to play. So this thread is dedicated to our favorite classic, retro games we still love to play.

So what are your favorite classic/retro sports games?

I've got a few: The NFL 2k series (2k, 2k1, 2k2) for the Dreamcast is some of the best football games I've ever played. Every now and then I pop one in to the dreamcast and play. A lot of what we are used to in football games now started with this series (online play, gameplay style, etc.) The games still play as good as a remember it.

World Series Baseball 98', For the Sega Saturn was a game I heard many good things about before I ever got it a few years back, but wow when I played it, it blew my mind how good it was for a old baseball game, It's not fancy, but it mechanics were tight and very easy to play.

So here's some exampels of my fav classic sports games. What are some of yours?

I seemingly loved All-Star Baseball 2000 for the N64. It pushed the machine to its limit back in the day while providing a deep experience. Then there's NHL 95 (or was it 94?) that blew my mind in how good hockey video games can be.

ESPN NFL 2K5 was awesome. I think there was an old Nes or Snes baseball game called Baseball Simulator 2000 or 3000 or something, it had like witches and robots and stuff. That's probly the funnest baseball and/or sports game I've ever played! Anyone else play that one?

It was Super Baseball Simulator 1000, that was it...fun fun fun! Oh and it was SNES, there was an older one for NES I think, but this is the one I remember playing.

Wait a minute, that may not be it, I'm watching footage on YouTube and I don't see them crazy characters that I remember. Anyone remember what I'm talking about? I remember some doing this cyclone thing when batting and hitting it out of the park.

Oh almost forgot, Ken Griffey Jr. Major League Baseball is another one that I had a blast playing, Winning Run was cool too but the 1st had its own style that was really cool. "He's out-Oh Come on!"

Tecmo Super Baseball and NBA Jam, both for the SNES, were the two best sports games ever in my opinion. I absolutly love playing these games and still play them to this day.

Fifa 97 for the Mega Drive, I used to love the indoor pitch. Also NBA Showtime: NBA on NBC for the Dreamcast is good due to the arcade nature of it.

Let's hear it for MUTANT LEAGUE FOOTBALL!!! Woohoo! Any of the NBA Jams were cool too. One that I hated was Bill Laimbeer Combat Basketball, I did not like that game.

I'm actually very fond of the Track & Field games by Konami on the NES. Something about them are strangely addictive to me, and I never can stop playing them.

THis is the pinnacle of FIFA games as far as I am concerned. I also loved NBA Jam on the SNES, such a great game.

I think the World Cup 98 (not the road one) was better (N64 version), that game was short but a lot of fun.

I'm rather fond of:

John Madden '92, NHL '96, Fifa '95, PGA Tour Golf 2, Pete Sampras Tennis, (MegaDrive / Genesis)
International Superstar Soccer 98 (Nintendo 64)
NFL Blitz 2000, Virtua Tennis, Virtua Athlete, NHL 2K (DreamCast)

I'll probably remember more later...
