Poll Favorite racing game sub genre? (20 votes)

Futuristic racing 20%
Open-world/street racers 25%
Racing simulations 35%
Combat racing 25%
Kart racers 20%
I like racing games in general 30%
Never liked/played raving games 0%

I thought I would make this poll

So what is your favorite racing game sub genre

To be really honest I like racing games in general

Futuristic racing-As well as their science fiction setting, futuristic racing games take the racing format to extremes, often involving weapons. They may feature alien environments and abstract vehicles such as hoverbikes. Without having to follow physical laws, vehicles can move with tremendous speeds.

Open-world/street racers- the player not confined by a track and can race his own route freely in a world

Racing simulation- try's to recreate the racing experience for the player in a realistic way using real-world drivers, tracks, fuel/tire wear/damage, etc. To be competitive in sim racing, a player must understand the aspects that make real-world racing so difficult, such as threshold braking, how to maintain the car as the tires lose traction, etc.

Combat racing- typically video or computer games where the primary objectives of gameplay includes vehicles, usually armed with machine guns, missiles, molotov cocktails, pipe bombs, hand grenades, and other improvised weapons, attempting to destroy vehicles controlled by the CPU or by opposing players. The genre normally features a variety of different vehicles available for play, each with its own strengths, weaknesses, and special attack abilities. Players may also unlock hidden vehicles by completing certain in-game tasks. Traditionally, vehicular combat games focus on fast-paced action inside the vehicle, rarely, if ever, concerning themselves with role-playing or other elements.

Kart racing- Kart racing game, also known as cart racing game or go-kart racing game, is a subgenre of racing video games. Kart racing games are known to have simplified driving mechanics while adding obstacles, unusual track designs and various action elements. Kart racers are also known to cast characters known from various platform games or cartoon television series as the drivers of "wacky" vehicles.

I voted for combat racing but I did a mistake. Simulation is me preferred.

Also as combat racing I mean kind of open world like Twisted Metal.

I'm a fan of most racing games to be honest, I've equally enjoyed games like Forza, Mario Kart and Burnout to name some.

@Ant_17: we people could also start joining NASCAR or The Boston Marathon if we want to race in real life. But virtual racing is at least easier.

@Ant_17: well racing in real life can be more complicated, you have to go through the fact that your using energy. motorsports, running, horse racing, etc and also you can't really see that well sometimes

Where as in racing games. You have diffrent camera angles and stuff and all you need is virtual money to upgrade the vehicle and don't need to take a break. Sure racing in real life at times is fun. But racing games are much easier and even funner. The next time I do any kind of race from running to motocross to car racing. I will try to see if I can do it better. Do you agree?

When i was younger, i could play a bunch of different driving games. Sims, kart, rally, Burnout like games - it didn`t matter as long as they were fun. Then Gran Turismo 5 came out, & no matter how many problems it had, it did the most important thing i was looking in a simulation, & that is realistic physics & excellent/realistic sense of speed for 400-750 HP cars. I couldn`t play anything else for years, but now i`m starting to enjoy other racing games like when i was a kid. Still prefer sims though.

I hate racing simulators, the sense of speed is awful.

My favorite game is F-Zero GX but that's about it when it comes to futuristic racers. I'd say any arcade works for me.

One of the reasons why i like simulations, apart from being a car enthusiast, is the fact that i`ll probably never have the chance to drive one of those exotic or super cars in general. And as technology evolves, those games should probably benefit & get closer to real life simulations, so it will be the closest thing to drive a Ferrari or some other of your dream cars. But i don`t like all sims, like F1 games for example. They seem too chaotic & complicated for my taste, don`t like the sound of those engines either.

But as i said, i like various driving & racing games, so i`ll will give them a proper chance in the future, as i did in the past.
