I usually buy digital these days which reduces clutter in my media room. But occasionally I’ll buy used games on disk so I can play publishers’ games without paying them a penny due to incompetence (Callisto Protocol) or shameless lies and incompetence (Cyberpunk 2077, Gotham Knights). I always buy from GameFly which runs awesome deals and never from GameStop.

On a side note, the panic from publishers about used games, them equating buying used to piracy, and their desperate cynical measures to curtail used games (online passes, locking entire campaign sequences behind codes like Catwoman in Arkham City) during Gen 7 seems a bit laughable now.

I no longer purchase physical games besides Switch and even than, I buy them new/sale but never used and so with that, I'm fully digital purchaser so no more used games for me.

(Used GPU is another story)

Edit: I should mention its very rare I'll buy retro games whenever I see a refurbished console/game then yeah, I buy used hence its retro gaming after all.

Yes I still buy used games when I find it drastically cheaper than it was originally. But usually it's games I wouldn't have bought originally. It's also nice to find classics on the cheap.

Grabbed a PS4 copy of the newly released Zero 4 while continuing my year of Survival Horror/ Action Horror gaming.

Reason I skipped this at launch is simply because I was playing other games, otherwise I would have gladly bought it new, Zero 4 also was a limited print run so only so many physical copies are around and brand new.

Recommend anyone try this over the piece of trash that is Callisto Protocol.

While I still prefer to get my games on physical format, love having a big collection of games to show off, I haven’t purchased a used game in like 20 years. I just prefer to buy my games new. I don’t really concern myself about whether or not I should give my money to a publisher. If they put out a game that I want to play then I’ll buy it.

Yes I do. Last week I bought Hades [used] for $19 CAD. Had I got it digitally, it would've been $30 CAD. I love saving money because I tend to be frugal. If I have the option of buying a game new or buying it used, I will buy the used copy.

There isn't another way to increase my Genesis collection w/o buying used.

No. Buy a couple Switch games here and there physical, and the used copies are barely cheaper so I might as well buy them new.

Still buy older generations used very much. Dissapointing actually that a bloody mega drive game is still 60 quid lol.

New games not so much becuase the disks no longer have the game on them anyway so i wont be able to play when the servers go down anyway.

Its a shame that all these games will one day dissappear for good one day

I can't remember buying anything used in the past few decades.

Maybe a couple back in the Nintendo 64 era? I think i recall getting a used copy of Duke Nukem 64 and Mortal Kombat Trilogy.

I used to rent games as a kid on consoles, and would get new games when the holidays / my birthday came along.

I've been buying digital almost exclusively since Steam became mainstream. The deals are so good, I never really saw a point in looking into the used market.

This obviously also applies to games made available on Xbox Live and the Playstation Network.

I used to only buy used games until I got the PS5, now it’s only digital, way easier to swap between games and no clutter in my living room.

No, digital games are so inexpensive and readily available these days there's no need to buy refurbished.

I understand some folks like to collect physical, and some people don't have good internet connections, but it really is time for physical to go.

I do have fond memories of going to the old "nerd store" where they had used games, records and CD's, movies, comics, Warhammer figures, DnD stuff, and all kinds of stuff. It was really nice perusing the collection and finding a random game from my childhood. But I never bought them.
