Poll Do you mainly buy games in-store or online? (52 votes)

In-store 19%
Online 81%

I'm sure this topic has been posted numerous times before.

But for me...it's mostly online due to shops not being all that close to me. Plus, sometimes I can become lucky & receive it a day or two early before it's release date.

I mainly buy games for console, so in store, cause its 40-60 percent cheaper than online. At least where I live (unless, online has discounts, but I seem to always miss them).

Does online from a store count as In store or online or do you mean digital only? The closet video game store is an hour and a half away.

I buy from online from a store if it's a new release as it's cheaper but other than that wait for a digital copy to be on sale.

Online. It's cheaper, save travel cost and petrol.

The only time I buy games in-store is when I place an order online and pick up in-store. Argos is the perfect example as they are known for having brilliant deals. Argos is close to where I live.

I try to buy physical if it's an option, have a good retro dedicated store near the train station and a modern one on the way home that I like. So I go past them all the time anyway.

Plus they both handle orders great. Slot them through my door while I'm at work, so it's a non-issue. Probably walk in these shops about six times a week.

Physical is also cheaper than digital about 90% of the time.

I can't even remember the last time I bought a game in a store. When it comes to physical copies, I get them off Amazon and use play-asia for imports.

Pretty much exclusively in-store for me. Unless it’s an older game that is too difficult to find I greatly prefer getting the physical version and I prefer going to a local store to get it.

When I bought physical media I would purchase from brick and mortar unless there was a better deal online, but was still physical. These days digital is just too convenient and very rarely do I step foot into a brick and mortar to buy a digital game code. It's the nature of progress I suppose.

I buy mostly digital, as I really don't care for physical formats.

I do sometimes get a disc for a game on consoles if the price is good, but as a general rule, digital tends to be heavily discounted, at all times, on one platform or another.

I prefer physical. There are plenty of Gamestops near where I live and they always have heavily discounted used games unless it's something that just came out. I also get 10% off of used games and with the amount of games that I buy per year it really starts to make a difference. My physical to digital ratio is probably 85/15

With Switch, I've gone mostly digital (probably 80/20 digital). Mainly because most games are digital-only.

But I'm really reluctant to go 100%. I'll always want to support physical where I can.

I enjoy living in the Digital World, soooo I buy my games online only. Steam/PSN/Windows 10/GoG and the list goes on.

I mostly buy online and getting them sent to me. I have a GameStop close to where I work so I might on occasion buy from them. On a rare occasion when I play PC-games I get them digital from Steam or some other site. Smaller games I usually buy from one of the online console stores.

Ahh I remember Blockbuster being only 3 blocks away. Rented games soon as they were released. Physical copies are better so when you complete the game, you refund it and buy another game.

I don't mind physical or digital, either is fine.

To reply to the question, it's online for me. It's been that way for years but just recently when I was visiting family I saw a "Game" shop and browsed their games. They had a section of just older 360 and PS3 games for dirt cheap, and I mean CHEAP. That same store have a branch 10 minutes away from where I live and I will make it my duty to go in there one day and buy some games for my 360 and PS3 as I play more last gen games than this gen. I just hope they have similar deals to the branch I visited. So I guess my response has changed to I buy games both online and in-store..

I like going to the store to purchase games. I'm old fashioned, and I remember as a kid walking into Blockbuster Video and needing to read the back of the box to read a paragraph to see what the game was about. I am aware I can LITERALLY go to any major retail store and buy new games, but I personally use Best Buy. IF the game is not at their location, I will go to their website and purchase the game. I actually went more "left" in this poll. I enjoy walking into retro-style stores, browsing older games for my older systems. It brings me back to my childhood and the great memories I had playing video games.

Even though digital content could come back to haunt us in the future, I've pretty much bought into it because of the convenience and frequent flash sales. I haven't bought a Physical copy of a game since 2015.

I can't even remember the last time I actually bought a game in a retail store... I always buy online now. I still usually buy physical games, but those can always be found online somewhere for cheaper than any retail store. Most major retailers offer free shipping, so if there is actually a good sale, then I still don't bother going to the store to buy it.

Doing it online mostly for my PS4. For the Nintendo Switch I am buying the games in the store or online on websites like Spielkult. Next game I will buy is FIFA 20. For a long time I played and used tools like the Coin Master hack tho.

Online mainly through PSN if it's on sale. Last game I bought in store was Ni No Kuni 2.
