And if yes, for how long?
Im thinking about taking a half year break, feel kinda burned out.

Totally? No. Take a break from certain genres like FPS games? Sure. The longest was after buying Battlefield 2 and playing it into 2006. Then I took a break from FPS games until 2009 when I resumed playing FPS games starting with Crysis and Bioshock.
Those games were old news to most gamers. But, to me, they were like"Wow!" :D
In a way. I'm kinda burned out as well.:?
I rarely game anymore.:? Then again I'm kinda broke so I haven't gotten a new game in some time.:P
On a week long break from gaming right now. Just not feeling it lately. I almost skipped a whole generation so yeah... I've taken some pretty decent breaks.
Yea I hadnt gottin a new game since today. I havent had a new one in months and barely touched my games other then twice a week for the occasional Halo or Gears matchIn a way. I'm kinda burned out as well.:?

Nope. Haven't seen the need to. I mean, it's not you'd take a break from movies or books or music, right? Don't see why videogames have to be different.
I wouldn't say I've taken a brake but there are times I don't game for a few days at a time because I'm too busy with real world stuff, which is never as fun :(
I don't play video games everyday (at least not anymore) and I feel that helps from feeling burnt out.

Yep.. I've taken a few breaks -- one that was almost 2 years long (during the PS2 period). Women, work, and partying all take priority over gaming for me.
That sounded a lot cooler in your head. There has been periods of time that I went without gaming. I'm not sure if I was considering it a break, I was just either too tired or too busy to jump into them.

That sounded a lot cooler in your head. That sounded more jealous and less clever than you think it did, bub :)
Only 2 weeks, and that was the time when I messed up my PC which is my primary gaming platform
Yeah I've taken breaks but it has never been "official", like I've never said I'm going to take 6 months off.
If I don't feel like gaming, I don't game.
Usually lasts a few days or a couple weeks.
When I was younger I stopped gaming for about 3-4 years.
Back in the PS2 era, I'd play a game for a few weeks and when I finished it, maybe not buy another for 6 months. Since I got my PS3 however, I play almost every day. The only exception was when I played Final Fantasy XIII for a couple of weeks. It was so mind-numbingly monotonous that I didn't feel like turning on my PS3 for two weeks afterwards. But Fallout 3 pulled me out of my funk and I've hardly missed a single day since.
I regularly take small breaks from gaming, and go to other forms of media, such as Anime, western shows, literature, or music. Keeping a cycle like this up keeps me from going insane.
I took a 4 year break, but for different reasons. The time between the Dreamcast's official death and the launch of the Xbox 360.
Since then I haven't really had breaks. Unless you call two days a break.
I did from about 2003 until 2007; in that time I probably got like 5 games and they were almost all on birthdays or Christmas. I think the reason I took such a long break from gaming was because I had such an amazing time enjoying the golden years of he N64, PS, and Dreamcast that what came after just seemed bad in comparison. Luckily I have the XBOX 360 to thank for getting me back into the hobby ;)
lol same here. now if only i could add friends to that cycle....yes im a loner made worse by being way across country for school that said im not sure why but when the gamecube came out i bought it(first system i bought with my own money) played smash brothers melee to utter death. then for some reason i let my friend borrow it for like 3 or 4 years.then for some unknown reason i decided i wanted it back went to his house and took it. now considering i hadnt bought a new game in that time and seeing how ridiculous my collection has gotten im a little alarmed. honestly i probably should of let him keep it oh well im too far into it now lol.I regularly take small breaks from gaming, and go to other forms of media, such as Anime, western shows, literature, or music.
