Battlefield 3 Beta Sept. 29-Oct 10th - 99 problems, but a beta ain't one.

Here are all the details. If you pre-ordered on Origin, or purchased the limited edition of Medal of Honor, the beta begins on the 27th. I can't wait to try it out!

They released a new trailer today. It includes Jay-Z and a not so subtle jab at Call of Duty. I dig the Jay-Z, but they could be cIassier when it comes to their competition.

Batman PC delay hurts bad. I guess it shouldnt be too big of a deal considering there is a new game that should keep me busy, but the fact that everyone on consoles will play this before i do is seriously pissing me off.

I just spent over $300 on a new graphics card alone. if I cant max this out with that then wtfrack?

Of couse I would be happy with running it on ultra at 720p or 1080p. I dont have a multiscreen set up or a 2.5K monitor.

I thought it was bigger map, more players, and mouse and keyboard controls. If I'm wrong and ultra truly is the appeal, alot of gamers are going to be disappointed.i5750at4Ghz

Oh, well, yeah, that stuff obviously matters. Everything I've been hearing has just been hyping up the visuals, though, and not so much the additional gameplay features.

The visuals are what I was most interested in at the start but the more I saw them I got used to them and now im just looking forward to playing it. To see how the changes play out and what it feels like overall. The Graphics are just the icing on the cake

I wonder how this game maxed would be on a single GTX 580 with 3GB? Hopefully around 40 FPS, maybe. We shall see!

The beta should be fun to try. I really liked BF2, and I also really like both Bad Company games.

I'm not crazy about timed exclusives. I suppose I should have seen this coming since EA has been pretty friendly with Sony lately. From what I've seen, they really want to build up a Battlefield fanbase on the PS3 to counteract the CoD fanbase on the 360. It seems like an odd tactic since it is likely to alienate the 360's Battlefield fanbase, but it makes sense that PS3 CoD fans might be less loyal since Activision treats the PS3 version of CoD like an afterthought.

The Giant Bomb report on it says the exclusivity only lasts a week, though, so it's not too bad as far exclusivity goes. Just a minor inconvenience, really.

you do know the full mp beta (uncharted) will have all the maps which will spoil all the single player locations for you?

We are getting disconnected pretty regularly, but outside of that, I'm having a blast with the beta. I'm starting to get the feel for it. You die quicker so you have to be smarter. I could be Rambo in Bad Company 2. It doesn't work here.

Does anyone know if we get to keep our rank from the beta once we get the disc based game in Oct.?Lostboy1224

rag, what have they done to Battlefield? Here is a list of things I dont get about the game... (read, GET.. not hate, it's still decent so i dont want to overexaggerate)

• We die way too quick. Little to no time to react.
• The shooting indictor is way too subtle, i can never tell where i am getting shot at. I die so fast, it doesnt matter anyway.
• Where are the vehicles? How can you have a demo of a battlefield game without vehicles? Who are the pandering to?
• Why do all the ironsights take up half the screen? I cant see antyhing. HATE unlocking the red-dot, that should be default in BF games.
• Hit detection seems worse than BFBC2. Have you had problems with this?
• The whole thing feels like it was designed with the COD crowd in mind, It's INCREDIBLY disappointing. No vehicles in the beta, low health, cluttered screen, unlockables popping out of the screen like COD. It's embarrassing.
• The game is not a looker. Maybve ive been spoiled by Crysis.
• Going to try the PC version now.

Here are some screens I took at 1080p, all settings maxed out. Vsync was enabled for a couple of these screens too. Really easy to max, I was surprised. At 720p i was getting over 100 fps indoors easily. (Still didnt make me a better player though. :( ) Definitely less jaggy than the PS3 version, higher res of course and no shimmering. But the difference isnt as light as day as i thought it would be, but I guess that's the price you pay for having destructible enviornments.

-I've adjusted to the lower health. I'm stealthier and more cautious.

-I haven't had a problem yet.

-No vehicles is definitely a bummer. They are less critical in Rush, but you need vehicles to ensure that no one cIass takes over. Without them, most people just play as Medics.

-Half the screen... I don't know about that. It seemed fine to me, but then again, I played BC2 without scopes a lot, so it felt natural.

-The beta is pretty laggy at this point for sure. I think it'll get sorta out, hopefully they patch the beta.

-I don't see it. It seems harder than both BC2 and any of the CoDs I've played. I'm definitely playing smarter and I like it.

-Yeah, DICE claims it is an old build, but it looks rough.

So far I'm really loving the weapon customization. I've got a PP2000 with a silencer and a nice holo scope. I switch to the IR scope for the tunnel section. My biggest complaint is that the clipping issues are atrocious. I fall through the ground at least once every time I play.

I managed a small sample of the beta so far. This is my first time playing a Battlefield game, so I didn't really know how to play properly. Nice mix of indoor and outdoor combat, but I was expecting vehicles to be in play here. Controls will take some time to get used to as well, but I didn't do too bad for my first game. Auto aim seems a bit weird, though. Works fine most of the time like it does for console shooters, but I swear there were a few moments where this sticky aim kicked in, and it felt like I was in aim-bot mode or something. I think I got three headshots up close in a row because of that!

Was fun to play, but the game's visuals didn't give a good first impression. What's up with it zooming in on everybody's ugly textured face every they kill me. It looks hilarious. It's my fault for expecting what I saw in those amazing looking trailers, but what can you do?
