I love those games, great graphics, level design, and awesome music. Diddy's Kong Quest is one of my favorite games, I didn't really care for the 3rd one though.

Your not alone, I grew up playing Donkey Kong Country. One of the best games made, sadly I didn't enjoy Donkey Kong 64.

I love the trilogy tremendously. I think I liked the 2nd one the best just because it was tough, the locations were pretty cool and it had the best music too. Funny thing, Miyamoto originally remarked something along the lines that it was proof that all a game needs is good graphics to be successful.

I still prefer Mario over Donkey Kong but I like both games a lot.

Awesome games are awesome. I remember renting it back in the day, and then immediately buying the first one the day after. Fun stuff.

I got that along with my SNES when I was about 5. Best Ever. I loved those games, Particularly the 3rd one. I think it was just the variety of the levels and the collectibles and stuff. It's like a precursor to games like Fallout in the way that there were objectives you didn't even know about that gave you a great reward, like secret levels and whatnot.

I think they are very awesome. I even bought the re-release of Donkey Kong Country for the Gameboy... but let's just say it's not quite as good as the SNES version.

DKC1 is my favourite 2D platformer of all time. The music called 'aquatic ambience' changed my life. Its what made me want to write music :)

I loved the original Donkey Kong Country on the SNES. I used to play it everyday after school. Still one of my favorite games on the SNES. I should give it a download on the Virtual Console.

i'm waiting for a wii DKCountrygame, and no your not alone. i enjoy the DKC series, and my fav 2 are the original DKC for the SNES,and DK 64 on the N64. Both were great. DKC2 on SNES was also pretty decent. I never had the chance to play DKC 3 on SNES.

You should get the original Donkey Kong Country first. If you don't the other two will wreck the first one for you. Playing them in order is probably the best idea.

I have enjoyed playing the first two games very much, ever since I was 5-years-old. The second one is my favorite, due to its atmosphere (pirate ships and volcanoes are fun to play in).

Very few people in the general population dislike the Donkey Kong Country series.

I didn't care for the first one much, but I'm a huge fan of the second. Basically, it added everything I was dissapointed wasn't in the first and made everything else so much better.

Maybe it's because I owned a Genesis back in the day but I didn't think DKC was all that awesome. The graphics were great but am I the only one who thought the controls were a bit floaty? I don't know if they're too sensitive or what but jumping around was always a bit tricky.

i wasn't a big fan of dck when the original came out, but it was probably because my annoying best friend always pestered me on how awesome it was, and i really didn't care for platforming... i was an rpgaholic... later on though, i calmed down and grew to really, truly enjoy those games for how good they were, and still are... though... when i bought dk64 hoping that it was going to be the same thing for mario 64 that dkc was for super mario world... i got disappointed... real bad. terrible game.

I downloaded all the DKC games on my Wii, and they were all pretty fun. They did have some pretty sweet music, too! (K. Rool fights in DKC 1 and 2 come to mind.)

Some gamers argue that DKC just ripped off the Mario franchise (I think Miyamoto initially said something to this regard aswell) and that it's just a dumbed down version. I can see some merit to that assessment when you try to make a redundant genre-wide comparision such as that. I feel that Donkey Kong Country is one of the most accessable, ageless and enjoyable games I own.

dude i agree completely. My most vivid video game memories from my early years are from the Donkey kong country games. I m currently playing through the games again and im almost done with 2. These to me are in the top five super nintendo games. i would have to say that 1 is my favorite for the nostalgia and music.

Its just a classic

I would say I've probably devoted about 100 hours total to the trilogy on the SNES. Some of the best games I've ever played. RIP Rare.

I haven't played a Donkey Kong game I did not like. DK64 and the DKC games are where it's at! I currently own DK64 and DKC2, but I've played all the DKC games at some time or another, and I'd like nothing more than to someday play them through to completion. Forget what Miyamoto says about them, they're honestly some of the best platformers ever made imo.

exactly.

I've seen a lot of gaming websites and magazines downplay the DKC series and label it "overatted" in their hindsight(graphics, collectathon objectives, ect.). DKC 2 is still one of my favorite Chistmas presents ever. I downloaded DKC and DKC 2 on my Wii and they are still excellent games. http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3128401 http://archive.gamespy.com/articles/september03/25overrated/index18.shtml

I just wish Nintendo would put out another Donkey Kong game that's actually awesome like the old ones. The last ones I remember are the one where he looks like a big baby turd, and he swings on pegs for the GBA (don't know the name obviously), and then I think they ported the DKC series to the GBA, and then we had those DK drum games for the Gamecube.

How bout they make another DK platformer like the one for the N64? That was one of my most favorite N64 games. The DKC games I've had since they released on the SNES, and in fact one of them is in the SNES two feet from me :P Those games are awesome.
