You think Final Fantasy will be PS3's saving grace?

I'm not sure, but I'm one of those whho will get a PS3 because my favorite seires will be released there (MGS, RE, etc.), including my most favorite RPG series.

I doubt it. FFXIII  does not look good. White Knight Story will kick ass though. Oblivion, of course. METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS!!!!!!! Let me emphasize that

I agree with you on that one. I don't think that Final Fantasy XIII will be the game to save the Playstation 3 on it's own. Even though the concept is interesting when I look at Final Fantasy XIII I feel like I've seen the world in another generic anime or Japanese RPG. Metal Gear Solid 4 is the game to save the Playstation 3, and I don't really see any other game being able to attract a larger crowd to the console.

There are one three reasons why I would buy a PS3:  Final Fantasy XIII, Metal Gear Solid 4, and the next Gran Turismo.

Just FF no, there are other titles coming out for the PS3 that are drawing people to it.  Final Fantasy is a big one, but not the only one, MGS4 is obviously another gigantic draw to the system.  Final Fantasy most likely will be one of the reasons the PS3 may sell eventually, but not the only one.  I know it is one of the reasons I'm getting a PS3 :D eventually.....

For $600, not any combination of the games listed would sway me into buying a PS3. I think a price drop would be the PS3's saving grace. I also have lost interest in the series since FFX-2 came out. Makes me sad:( At least KH is really good! :)gill9221

I think one of the reason why I liked Final Fantasy VII so much was the modern and surreal world. There were area's where you could have said; "that's the apartment building I live in!" but right behind it was this huge reactor shooting mako from it's exhaust. I love Cowboy Bebop partially for that too. Also the anime was influenced by several different cultures(two being Chinese and American culture). I want something unexpected!

Sure it will help the ps3 and many others games too but FF or Mgs4 those series are one reasons people buy the ps3. So it will play a role in "saving the ps3."

I agree. Final Fantasy XIII will sell Playstation 3's but it will not SAVE the system. I always thought that the Playstation 3 was about Metal Gear Solid 4 and nothing else. I think the trailers are fantastic, and the relations it shares to real life conflicts makes it even more intriguing in regards to what if situations.

Well Final Fantasy is one of the big reasons and why I want and will own a PS3. But's it's not the only reasons.PS3's cream of the crop will be out soon presumbaly with Tekken 6 and MGS4 among the batch of must have games.

I love games and I love to play variety. It's one of the best ways in really being able to enjoy your console's true worth.

When FFXlll be out the PS3 will be much cheaper (i suppose), so i will get the console along with others heavy weight games like MGS4, for less money. Its just a matter of time.

And as well, a lot of the core disigners are leaving square.  I gave it some strong thought and i found that i am more loyal to my favorite creators since they are the ones resposible for the final fantasys that i "grew up" playing, So in my opinon the title "Final Fantasy" is purley cosmetic. And now that mystwalker is out and about, the quality the i know and love will be revived with this new company, im a little scared to say that i might, within the next couple of years, possibly turn my back on ff alltogether, but.... who knows

And Level 5 is making White Knight Story for the PS3, which it looks awesome from the trailers and footage I've seen of it.  The combat system is real time, but you can attack certain points on an opponent to weaken them, like strike their arm so they can't hold their sword or shield up, cool :D

No...the reason why is because if you look at last gen there was no FF games hardly.  The only decent FF game that came out for the ps2 was ffx and it was like that for 5 years or so till FFXII.  The ps2 still would have won the console war last gen even without ff but yeah I see what you are saying and I really expected much more and better ff games for the ps2.  I'm hoping they change things around to the way they used to be on the ps1 and make things like that for the ps3 but only time will tell.  SE is going to have to make some changes and add blood to their games and make their stories more interesting like they used to be in the 90's.  Anyway all I'm trying to say is that yes ff games used to a real system seller but they don't have nearly as big of an impact on todays videogame world as what they used to because the ff games are not as good and there are not as many good ff games coming out. FFX is a good ff game and that was about the only ff game out for most of the ps2 lifetime, there should have been about 3 really good ff games for the ps2 not just one.  As for FFXII I have yet to play it but I've heard lots of disappointing things about it and I don't think I''m going to pick it up since with lots of games that SE has released lately I myself have been disappointed with as well.

If SE can't make a lot of good FF rpgs than I'm hoping that white knight or other rpgs will be good and come out every year or so.  I'm hoping that the breath of fire series can be good like it used to be.  I'm hoping there will be lots of good rpgs in the future but who knows?  but I can tell you one thing and that is that the best or some of the best fps, action adventure and other genre games are headed towards the ps3 and they won't disappoint.

Hmm. First of all, do not give in to subjective critisism about ff12. Regardless of the opinions of others, u need to play it for yourself to judge seeing as almost every ff title is apealing to about as many as it isnt.

The FF games that came out in the late 90s and early 2000 were better, i agree, but u have to understand that the main developers that were responsible for the early titles are no longer with SE, that is the only reason i can explain the rather dissapointing history of late with the company. If people feel the same as myself(im hoping some do) ur money, faith and heart will lean twards mystwalker productions in the future to come.

Im saying this becuase in my opnion, poeple dont yet relize that they truly love the creators rather the the simple cosmetic title known to us as "Final Fantasy" and when our beloved creators leave the co. to create a new rpg life(wich will undoughtfully rival final fantasy if not completley blow it away)we will most likely flock to it and once again histpory will repeat itself in a new form, we just have to wait and see
