Today we'll be learning Roman numerals.(FF's roman numbers in the title is getting more and more complex :D )

There is often modern and alternate usage.

XV:15

XVI:16

As you can notice, the X is at the front while the V + Is at the back.So it will go on and on like this...

XXV:25

XXXV:35

It will only change once it reaches 40

XL:40

XL=40 with the usual Roman Digits,V,VII and so forth.

Once it reaches 50 it'll change again. It will turn into L.Hopefully this will allow people to distinguish roman numbers more easily and hopefully that this "tutorial" will not be too complex. If it is,leave me a word,I'll try to edit it in a way that it would be understandable.Though I really doubt that they'll reach Final Fantasy 50 or something :P

Haha

This site, GameSpot, is for ages 13 and higher. I'm pretty sure that we all knew roman numerals by that age. :P

Apparently Square-Enix doesnt know its Roman Numerals very well either,

I dont know if anyone else noticed this but in FF7, in the temple of the ancients, On the screen with the huge clock, if you look at the numbers they are all roman numerals but it goes, I, II , III, IIII, V. Instead of IV for four they put IIII.

I thought of all people, The makers of FF would know that IV is the roman numeral for 4 not IIII.

lol, well it was just a mistake but funny all the same.

IIII is just an alternate version of IV.Some Roman Numbers have their Alternate versions. There are also medieval version and stuff like that.

Haha, informative but to a FF fan, pointless. Playing and discussing all of those FF's is enough for us to eventually teach ourselves. That's how I first learned actually. Who would have thought you'd actually learn something from playing video games. I have more of a confusing time figuring out what number a Japanese FF was before it was released in a different number in the US. *brain melts*
