You wouldn't be alone in the Aussie establishment, we got a few here - one is the future of F1! ;)
Welcome aboard!
Hello all, my name is John or RW (the rwallacefan is just a Nascar thing, since I like both racing series' (more F1 though since my uncle gets tickets to the Canadian Grand Prix each year)
I'm a pretty big F1 fan, my favorite drivers are Rubens Barrichello and Giancarlo Fischella.
I found this union by luck :P, so I'm glad to be here to talk about an excellent racing series!
Welcome to the jungle!KimisApprentice

Welcome along, Mr. RW!
Thanks :D wait we do have fun and games? or is that posting Sir!
Hello I'm Christopher (but Chris sounds better). I am currently 15.
I've been watching motorsport (started with F1) since 2009 (I know, not very long).
I joined this Union 28/06/2010 but only started posting in it 2 days ago.
I have watched the highlights of most of the races between 2002 and 2009 to catch up on things.
I'm also a massive petrol head and motorsports nerd (I'm also a nerd at Maths and ICT).
My favourite circuit is Suzuka Circuit (used to be Laguna Seca but that was when I was new to cars).
I am a McLaren fan and support Hamilton as he was a great driver from the start. I also support Schumacher (I know that he isn't an angel) because he won two championships with Benneton (a terrible team) then went on to another team that was going downhill (Ferrari) and won 5 times with them.
I know that you'll probably critise this but I wish to be an F1 driver when I'm older.
I have done competitive go-karting and won 11 times and lost once (I lost at my second race because I got cocky and waved at the guy in 1st win I overtook him).
I know that's not a lot but I'm not very rich.
I also own a PS3, PS2, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS Lite, PSP fat and a recently bought a DELL Inspiron 15 (has Windows Vista unfortunately).
I only own 6 PS3 games:
Call Of Duty World At War (My first FPS and found it quite good)
Colin Mcrae DiRT 2 (A waste of money this was, I even pre-ordered it)
Formula One Championship Edition (One of the best F1 gams that I have ever played)
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (A great simulation racer, my most favourite game genre, and I'm still playing it)
Little Big Planet (I didn't buy this, it came with my PS3 and was very good)
Need For Speed Shift (Has quite a few problems but a decent game, quite frustrating as I was 80% complete but EA made it copy-protected so I couldn't back it up when my PS3 got the red screen, had to start 40 hours of gameplay again)
I have completed EVERY single game that I have to 100% EXCEPT Gran Turismo PSP. I need to buy all 800 cars but I only have 130.
Feel free to ask me any questions!
Do you have PSN?sambob530
He does. Check out the Gaming Community List in the Welcome Thread to see it :D
Shift has copy protection? You must be joking, I was on Teir 4 and my PS3 YLOD'd me. Don't agree with your opinion on DiRT2, but, hey, each to their own. F1CE is brilliant, you should check out the topic we have on F1 2010. Do you have PSN?sambob530
Yep, my PSN is the same as here.
Ah, DiRT 2. The deceivingly good advert.
The game was average and when you got into it, it became fun BUT I expected more realism.
Have you tried playing DiRT 2 with the wheel?
180 degrees lock to lock so driving is incredibly unrealistic and hard.

I can't seem to remember.

Can't say I have played it with the wheel. I agree, it is quite unrealistic, but I like it online. Me and a maths teacher from my school (WTF? I know) play it together. Lots of random, messy fun.

My maths teacher plays Football Manager and Halo with his students...
I've only ever won 3 times in DiRT 2 online but I've reached level 30 for the trophy.
Everyone trying to take you off the track. Impossible to drive cleanly.
The trophy that says you have to win against 7 people, was obtained by a fluke.
Hi Guys,
My name's Ray, I'm 23 and I live in Melbourne Australia. I've been in the union for... well a long time. I joined on 12 April 2006 lol. I haven't really hung around on the union boards much, but that doesn't make me love F1 any less.
Living in Australia it's a bit difficult to watch most of the season's races, as they're on late at night which isn't ideal. However, I try to watch what I can and I'm always interested to see the results. When I lived in England (place of birth) I was able to watch the GP on a much more regular basis. I still have Damon Hill's 1996 season win video on VHS and Mika Hakkinen's "Flying Fin First At Finish" video from the 98 season, as well as a bunch of Murray Walker videos! Just a random piece of information regarding my long-standing F1 life.
I used to buy EVERY formula one game ever since the SNES days. Then the groundbreaking Formula 1 from Psygnosis in 1995 - what an amazing game! From then on, F1 97, 98, 99, 2000 and 2001 all made their way into my library. There were a few years where Formula 1 fell off the map for me - it happened after moving to Australia in 99. In recent years my interest has been rekindled, and I bought F1 with my PS3 on launch day. Now, I simply can't wait until F1 2010 comes out. Codemasters have a knack for making great racing games, and I trust this is no exception.
Anyway sorry for the lengthy babble - nice to meet you all, and hope to hang around a bit more :)
@ raynimrod:
That wasnt as long as my babble :P
Did you just say that codemasters had a knack at making great racing games?
Have a look at DiRT2 and F1 2009 and you'll soon be eating your words.

I have DiRT and DiRT2, I think they're both great. As is GRID. I don't have a Wii though, nor would I expect much other than Mario Kart to be good there, so that doesn't surprise me. :)
Goodness me, you've been at the F1PU longer than me!
In all fairness regarding F1 2009, if you look at how F1 2010 seems to be shaping up, F1 2009 really was more of a "here you go, here's something to whet your appetite".

F1 2009 wasn't made by CM, it was published by them, it was actually made by Sumo Digital, the same people who did the awesome Outrun 2006 PSP port.

I expected more realism from DiRT2, I played GRID the demo, didn't like it much.
F1 2009 is also on PSP.

Where did I say that? And I'm trying to end the "subjective debate" but you keep egging it on lol.
Opps.
My bad.
I've finally finished GT PSP BTW.
Got all 835 cars.
Took just over 100 hours.
Steering this thread back on topic... Hi all, I'm Tom. 31 yrs old from England. Got into F1 in the '98 season and been a rabid follower since. Off the top of my head I can only think of one race I've missed in (nearly) 11 seasons. I'm a big McLaren fan and have been since the days of Mika and David. My wife and I are both fully paid up McLaren 'Team Members' and the house is littered with paraphenalia. I have an irrational hatred of all things Ferrari :) As far as racing games go, I got hooked on F1 97 on the original PS1 and I'm chomping at the bit for this new one. I had F1 CE but didn't really click with it. The racing games I have on PS3 at the moment are NFS: Shift, GT5 Prologue and Grid. My PSN ID is in my sig. Add me if you like but mention where you saw my name in the request. Any more info required, just ask.yellerbelly
Huh? It was on topic!
Anyways, what do you mean fully paid up? Does this mean that you work for McLaren?
What's wrong with Ferrari? They've made a lot of good cars, Ferrari 599, F430, F2007...
I have Shift and Prologue too. Will be adding F1 2010 to my collection tomorrow.
Anyways, what do you mean fully paid up?dabest2500
In order to get all the features on the McLaren website, you pay for the membership. If you don't, you only get basics like the newsletter and occasional discounts. McLaren competitions are also only for fully paid members.

Yay, another Mika fan. Good times back then although the last couple of seasons have been pretty good. Oh and F1 97 was pretty good, I also liked F1 '99 as the safety car and pit stops etc worked well on that game.

And F1 Championship Edition doesn't?

Aye, they were the golden years for McLaren as far as I'm concerned. Hamilton/Button could soon supercede that though.... Oh, and as far as the Ferrari thing goes, I guess it's 'cause they were McLaren's main rivals. Also, I didn't (don't) lke Schumacher. And Raikonnen left McLaren to go to them. I was actually starting to warm to them again this season - until the team orders fiasco showed them up to be the same old team they've always been. (And I know everyone does it, but it was the fact that it was so blatant and they had the nerve to stand infront of the world's media and insult the intelligence of every fan out there by denying it.) Anyway, I'm running the risk of derailing this thread so I'll stop there...[QUOTE="Garfield360UK"][QUOTE="yellerbelly"]Steering this thread back on topic... Hi all, I'm Tom. 31 yrs old from England. Only '99, they were absent since and before. It looks cool, but it's really quite boring. Great easter egg, though: After setting a fastest lap, type SAFETY as your name, and you get a safety car race mode! Get it if you want, but it doesn't work on my PS3, only on a PS2.

Don't think I ever posted here  I'm Mike and I'm 38 years old. Got into F1 in 92 ( had a passing interest before that ) when sharing a house at Uni with an absolute fanatic. Been watching it ever since and luckily my wife is a fan so we can watch it together.
Finally going to my first race this year - weekend pass to Silverstone was my Xmas present :D:D

I know this is like 6 months later, but I was on Amazon earlier and saw F1 '99 (disc only) from 99p, boxed at £4 at the most. If you're looking for a bit of old-school F1 gameplay with safety cars then this isn't bad.
Hey Guys,
I always wanted to join this Union but some glitch didn't allow me to post Unions but it works now.
I really like F1 and started watching with my dad when I was 13. Love the sport and the cars too.
I support Lewis and I know he's not very popular lately but he's my legend and the F1 Ace in my opinion.
Looking forward to posting here! :D
Welcome, allways nice to see a new face around.
May I ask if you have picked up the new F1 game at all? (we run game nights so the more the merrier).
