after talking to a few of my friends and connections, it appears that the 360 game "Tropico 3" is only getting limited distrubution even amoung big stores and chains including Gamestop and Wal Mart who aren't even carrying it in more than 60% of their stores. and the ones that are are not carrying many copies...

so, with only a handful of "rare" games comming out over the last 2 gens... this one might be worth looking out for.

I checked into the PC version and that may also be rare but that is less relevent as PC games are just Digital Distroed now...

Thanks waffle...I'm on the lookout. Our local Walmart was one of the ones that did not receive the game (I have a relative who works in the electronic dept. out here), so I'm going to have to go into Springfield and canvas all the game stores and Walmarts there.

I don't have the inside sources like Waffle, but I agree that the run looks pretty limited.

None of the big box stores bothered to carry the 360 version (Best Buy, The Source, Future Shop etc) and I ended up finding my copy at EB and of course they only received one so I got the display copy.

Anyone who has been following me on Live knows I have been crackin it wide open over the last few days, and let me tell ya its a pretty fun popcorn for the brain sort of game.

I've officially checked all the Gamestops, Gamecrazies, walmarts, targets, kmarts, TRUs and Best Buys. I've yet to see a copy.

I'll be checking my local game stores to see if I have it up in here in Vancouver. Chances are they might have the same shipment amount of the game, but I might find a couple copies. I'll let you know if I find any.

Hmmm. Doesn't seem to be that rare in Europe. At least the big retailers and Amazon have a fair amount of copies.

Future Shop and Best Buy don't even appear to have a sku in their system.

Your best bet is a local EB, but even they did not bring in many copies.

Yeah, I see it everywhere.  I just checked, it's been out here since November (thought I was imagining things for a while, there) and so far seems pretty ubiquitous.

May be one to keep an eye on, if it suddenly 'disappears'...

like I said... different markets... it's a smart person game that makes you control cuba... and americans are neither smart nor fond of anything but america... so... they played this a bit safe I'm assuming... as for other worldly places, I'm sure the numbers were better but you should probably do your own research as to its rarity in your area.

That might be why I didn't find it when I was at Best Buy today. :P

I found a Gamestop flying that said "not available in all stores" and "only available in limited quantities" when refering to Tropico 3. it was the launch week flyer... but I looked into it more.... and still see that it's getting even more hard to find... the list of chains that aren't carrying it is immence! best buy wasn't the only store to not have a sku for it... Wal Mart however did. and ebay still has a good price for it... if you CAN find it used at Gamestop *gags* feel free to nail it there...

no, but since people keep asking me... it's like... I guess Cim City... but more like a more realistic; cuban-based Metropolismania. again, this RAREITY only applies tothose living in the USA.

my son has been hogging it so I barely played past the tutorial... but it's neat enough.

It's funny, I just found out about this game yesterday. Since SimCity started to suck (and then die), I've been looking for something like this.

Metropolismania -- I have a selaed copy of that. Your son is playing that? How old is he? It's always looked a lot like Thrillville to me (which is surprisingly deep).

no, he was playing Tropico 3. I was playing Metropolis Mania ages ago, it's a great game... not at all like the surprizingly deep Thrillville though.

If you can still find them, GameStop has marked Tropico 3 down to $19.99 New. But out of the 6 stores in my area, only one store had any left. It was over 100 miles to the next closet store that had one.

Get 'em while they're hot...if you can!

"As some of you might be aware of, despite the very strict and thorough testing of Tropico 3 on Xbox 360, a bug managed to slip in leading to some rare cases of savegame corruption on large population (500+) islands."

More here: http://forum.kalypsomedia.com/showthread.php?tid=3896&page=1

I still really enjoy the game, but it's good to know what the possible breaking point is for save games.
