My good act of 2009 came from overhearing something at a game store.
Basically I was at Best Buy milling around the gaming area looking up and down the aisles as Ms. Cosmo was doing some shopping elsewhere.
A Father-type guy walks into the gaming section and goes right for one of the Blue Shirt Best Buy Guys,
Father Type Guy says: Hi There, My kids are really bugging me to get them this game, I dont remember what its called but you can play the drums and guitar or something like that?
Best Buy Guy: For what system?
FTG: The Microsoft One
BBG: I know which one you want, Rock Revolution.
FTG: Ummmm yeah that sounds about right?
BBG: Of course sir, should I get one for you?
FTG: How much are they?
BBG: Well the kit comes with drums, but you need a guitar as well. The kit is 79.99 and a guitar is 29.99, but the kit comes with the game as well
FTG: Okay, sure I will take it.
At this point, I am sitting there thinking WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA?
Then I realized they were sold out of Rock Band 2, and Guitar Hero World Tour Kits.
I kindly went over the dude, opened up the metacritic site for Rock Revolution on my BB, then the one for Rock Band 2 (which was only 99.99 for the whole kit on sale from 149.99)
I was thanked, and then when the BBG came back, FTG guy asked:
I think its Rock Band 2 that they want?
So at this point I figure the jig is up for the BBG, his dreams of selling the only Rock Revolution Kit in North America is over.
But what does he say?
BBG: I will be honest with you, there is a reason why we are blowing out Rock Band 2 at 99.99 and why Rock Revolution is 79.99 for just the drums.
So after knowing what he knew based on our quick chat, he walked out of the store (without anything)
But that may be the most interesting exchange I have seen in a while.
