is the "news box" on the gamespot's title page sponsored in any way (this looped slide show of five "hottest" games with "read it/watch it" buttons)? i saw this question raised in a different forum and the opinions did quite vary, yet no one could tell for sure. care to shed some light on this? thanks.

It sounds like you're describing the top stories carousel on the homepage (5 stories in a Flash carousel with "read it" and "watch it" buttons).

The answer is no. The choice and presentation of these editorial items is not sponsored by advertisement in any way.
