I feel that union activity would benefit if there was a section on the main boards (http://uk.gamespot.com/forums/index.html) list for unions that users have joined, it would make unions easier to navigate to. Unions would be automatically added to this list upon joining and provide easy access to the union boards. I would suggest that it be placed beneath "Your Favourites" and above "General Forums".
eg.
"But people can just add unions to their favourites"
Yes, but you'll find there are a LOT of people that don't even know how to add boards to their favourites. Secondly, in order to navigate to your unions in the first place, you have to go through your profile then onto the unions tab. This is inconvenient and not helpful at all for users not so familiar with unions. People just forget they were ever a member of a union.
"But some people are members of 30 unions and having so many listed on the main board page is a lot of scrolling"
Then they (GS devs) could make an option to hide particular unions at the users discretion. I don't see how anyone could possibly be active in 30 unions anyway.
Thoughts?
EDIT: Here is a better example of what I mean
