A bit of fun for short periods of time, but then again...

Upon loading the game I found it had issues with my primary controller I prefer to use. So I had to switch controllers over, around, to sort out that issue. I also noticed a reset bug! O well…

But the game plays and it plays okay, the basic concept is there, acceleration, break, left, right and it plays smoothly. I just had to change from the default automatic to manual gear settings in the options. Because automatic just doesn’t cut it! If you play automatic you are bound to get bored rather quickly. Manual is so much more fun!

There are a few options in the game, championship mode, arcade and you can change a few settings around. Make sure that you choose the right difficulty for you otherwise it will play rather too easily. Once you get into the game and start playing, with manual gears of course! You should be careful not to leave the road otherwise you will damage your tires. If you damage them too much you will then need to make a pit stop. O yes! If you don’t pit-stop at the right time it will be disastrous for you and your car! It’s a shame you don’t get body damage, but you certainly can make the car jump with enough speed.

The graphics are fine and Sonic™ will popup on a road side board if you go slow enough. The sound effects are fine nothing special to me, but the music, a little is okay but it can be so annoying after a while, that you will probably start feeling sick of it.

All in all, it’s a good game for short periods of time and two player mode is a little more fun but harder to see what you are doing. I wouldn’t go to town for the genesis Formula One but at least you get a good F1 game if you pay 0.99p on ebay like I did.
