Difficulty and quality seems lowered, though redeeming factors and some nostalgic feel balance it out

I've played all the game-boy Fire Emblem games, especially Fire Emblem and Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. Hell I logged a good 150 hours on each hands down, and i highly recommend those.
Now granted I may have a bias towards the new ds games coming out with there ease of use and lack of originality, but honestly Shadow Dragon could of done much better given the new technologies.

I will say the graphics are nice, but can be a bit bulky and annoying at times, but then again that might just be my love of the classic one-screen design. I personally think a zoom button would help out, but otherwise given the system I'm fine with the picture. Problems with the graphics are the utterly epic critical hit combos and attacks are cut from the game, replaced by below average sword attacks, which really cut down on the amount of myrmidons I have on the field. Magic looks ok, but honestly Aura was just straight up badass in the old games and wasn't topped since.

Now the actually storyline is nice, due to it being based on the original fire emblem with Marth. Then theres the cutting of much of the **** talking that no one really cares about that much prior and post matches, which granted you have to read the whole damn thing to get useful information about characters for recruiting. To get many tips and information now you basically have to visit the houses in game, giving strategic importance.

But, what really destroys my scoring is gameplay itself. When i buy a strategy game, I don't care about graphics, I don't care much about a story (as long as there is one), I care about how fun it is to play. Re-classing has killed this game for me honestly, the fact that you can re class makes me really lethargic about even attempting to recruit other people in the actual game, and makes me essentially choose 13 people that have decent stats from the beginning and run with them till endgame, since i can switch them between classes. Then, making it worse, they cut most of the classes and only have the old one avenue upgrades now. Honestly, final thought- Its good, but the fire emblem potential deserves much better
