Game that makes me feel like a kid again = high score!

User Rating: 8.5 | Final Fight: Double Impact PS3
I never played the stand-up arcade version, parents couldn't afford to spare a sack-full of quarters. My nostalgia for this game dates back to the SNES. I remember me and my dad playing this game until the continues dried up.

When i saw it on PSN one day, my peripheral vision went blurry, things started moving in slow motion, a rainbow popped out from behind the tv, and some fat lady was singing opera.

Such a simple plot - rescue a hottie from an evil gang that controls the city. Even the gameplay is simple - choose one of 3 stereotypical heroes, keep walking to the right, beating up thugs until you reach a cheap boss, then get your butt whomped while trying to knock down their multi-layer health meter.

Even the button layout is simple, only providing 3 moves: walk, jump, attack. Only variation is jump + attack = special attack that sacrifices a little health. Smash things to find food, weapons, or items that provide points. This ain't no God of War, buddy! Only game more old school is the original Street Fighter, the unofficial prequel to Final Fight.

Best thing, especially great if you totally suck at this game like me... unlimited continues. You can just die and die and start right at the instant you dropped dead. No more disappointments, no running out of quarters. Ideally, you don't use a lot, as there's a trophy & gallery unlockables available for using only a few, but sometimes you just don't want to worry about it.

There's a couple unique options in this upscaled classic, like screen type and turning upscaled music on or off. One of the screen types is the original Final Fight arcade cabinet frame, which turns your tv into a virtual stand-up arcade machine. Nifty!

Added bonus - Magic Sword. Never heard of that one, but it's fun. Throwback platformer that reminds me of a watered down Castevania knock-off, but it provides some entertainment, albeit repetitive throughout the game.

Another reason i gave it a high score is the inclusion of trophies, which every PS3 owner secretly loves. Very easy trophies, too, and just a handful per game.

I would've paid $9.99 for this but the sale price really sweetened the deal. If you're in your early 30s, this game better be in your download queue right now.
