Final Fantasy XIV is a Masterpiece... but it Sucks.

It's been a year, a year since my life got worse (also) thanks to this game ... and I love it. I mean, I hate it, but I love it. It is hard to explain.

The title features a truly huge department of possibilities, so much to make your head spin. The fact that you can choose from dozens of jobs with a single character, without necessarily being tied to it is something generously fantastic. But what makes it a truly different MMO from the rest is the narrative department, which takes its own time (too much), letting you think you're playing the usual "Adventurer do that, do that" MMO. But then it becomes a real Final Fantasy, having an absolute narrative evolution, and an atmosphere that will become totally serious and oppressive at times.

But the combat system is unwatchable, like some animations that are dated even for 2013. Same thing for the graphics. More than anything else the character models, dated and sometimes ridiculous. The graphic update was supposed to come out with Endwalker, it would have been perfect and in keeping with one of the messages conveyed by the expansion: "How far have we come with this game."

Another aspect that can annoy the average player and not (I also speak for amateurs of MMORPGs) is the amount of Grinding that is required for certain things. The fact that no one complains about it is the perfect example of how far the average gamer is heading towards the brain abyss. Wasting so many hours on mechanical gestures and for compensation that sometimes are not comparable to effort. FFXIV It's not always unfair, it's true, but Square Enix could have been an example for the gaming landscape instead of exploiting the stereotypes of the genre. We just need them to invent a Gacha system. And if you complain about it, the Community will start lynching you badly.

To each his own, I suppose.

But as much as I hate him in these respects, I would be a hypocrite not to say that he kept me, for better or for worse, on the screen for a whole year. Moving from one freecompany to another ... Knowing new people every day, friendships blurred, some still very solid and that seem indissoluble, an excellent remedy for loneliness (mine and many). Sometimes I just open the game because it's just so good to be there.

Then I turn it off after five minutes because I don't know what to do.

Final fantasy XIV is a masterpiece, but it sucks, like this review, full of personal ideas and not as long as I would have liked, but you know, the first job is never perfect and, hoping for updates that can improve the situation, or in another MMORPG Under the name Square, I wish a good continuation of the game to all those who have discovered it and who will discover it.

I've had enough. Thank you.
