Could have been better.

There are two main aspects of this game that really annoyed me. One is the crystarium system. I played the game once through not really following any specific strategy of upgrading, and after browsing around the internet I found that there are several strategies to go about upgrading the characters. There is one popular strategy that focuses on maximizing the strength and magic of either Noel or Serah, and it is absolutely ridiculous. Going through the game and then realizing after you max out the level on each role, that you are missing out on some 150+ strength or magic is really frustrating. It is like the developers were like hmmmm, how do we change the crystarium, I KNOW LET US MAKE A COOL THOUGHT-OUT STRATEGY SO THAT PLAYERS CAN HAVE MORE FREE WILL. Oh you got it square enix. More free will TO MESS THE EFF UP, WHICH IS PROBABLY SO WE CAN GET MORE PLAY TIME OUT OF IT. Okay moving on.
Secondly, the fact that there are no real super bosses is quite annoying. Usually after I beat a final fantasy game I am excited to do the side quests and I strive to get my characters stronger so I can survive them. In this game, I beat the hardest bosses without even having to get the best weapons or even completing the crystarium with a good strategy! In my opinion, final fantasy 7, 10, and 12 were awesome games and if they decide to make a new game in the future, they should incorporate ideas from those games.
