Final Fantasy XII is one of the best games available for the Playstation 2. However...

User Rating: 9.5 | Final Fantasy XII PS2
The vast world of Ivalice looks awesome on the Playstation 2 (PS2) console. Having released the game post the launch of Playstation 3 (PS3), Square maxed the PS2 capabilities to bring us a visual treat.

For those familiar with the Final Fantasy series will certainly enjoy this game but will agree with me that this is not the best game in the series.

For those who are new to RPGs, they should try a simpler one first.

The Good:
- Brilliant story...has traces of Star Wars in it.
- Great characters
- Awesome battle system, may confuse at first but once you get the hang of it, plays brilliantly as each character will work in accordance with your "pre-set commands (Gambits)"
- Great value for money. Although I may have completed only half the side-quests, I still clocked 115 hours.
- Starts and ends brilliantly. Loved the final fights.

The Bad:
- The middle part of the story drags
- Ivalice is extremely expansive and you can be playing for hours running mindlessly & trashing piddly foes
- The end of the game doesn't seem too rewarding

The Ugly:
- There are sections or quests where you may go for hours without a save point, which is extremely frustrating. Square desperately needs to incorporate "check-points" in their franchise.

Overall: Must own and must complete for RPG fans. Just need a lot of patience.
