This game sucks.
Let's get that out of the way so you're not stuck wonder, "What's this guy thinking?" - It's a horrible game. I was there the moment the game launched for NA and was delighted to jump into the fray. I started the largest "guild" for english speaking players across any server and we did very well. Till me and half of our guild decided that the game just wasn't worth playing.
FF11 is a generic MMORPG with a final fantasy paint job. A thin paint job. It never reminded me of a final fantasy game except for certain elements here and there. They seriously could have named this game "Swords and Lightning" and nobody would have suspected it was a Final Fantasy game at all.
Combat is boring, soloing is impossible and if you get overwhelmed - running will only get you killed.
Go play WoW.
