FFX is an amazing rpg.

Final Fantasy X is a masterpiece. Definitely one of the best rpgs I’ve ever played. The game play in FFX is perfect. The CTB gauge is a blessing in every way possible. It allows you strategize your moves and the switching characters at will is awesome, it makes every character useful as you’ll have to bring them in to handle certain monsters, for example there are monsters with armor plating that are best suited for characters like Auron or Kimarhi. In fact, had this CTB gauge been incorporated into FFIX it would have made one hell of a difference. The game uses a sphere grid instead of the old level up process. The sphere grid works wonderfully because it’s sort of like the job system featured in FFV, you can move your characters in different directions, for instance if spend enough time with it you could have Lulu, your black mage, move over to Auron’s grid so she has both deadly magic and incredible strength. The CG cinemas look amazing, although Tidus looks a little more Asian than his character model. The graphics in the game are probably the best seen in an rpg yet. All the characters are very detailed. As usual in a Final Fantasy game the summoning spells are the graphical highlights and this game is no exception. Aeons like Ifrit and Shiva look amazing, although Bahamut doesn’t look near as cool as he did in 7-9. The game also sounds great, though sometimes the voices can get annoying, especially Wakka, and Kimarhi, but really everything sounds great and it has great music as well. And with no world map the game is kind of linear, although it has its share of hidden items and areas. All in all it’s simply a must own game. Even if you don’t own a ps2 it’s worth buying just for this game.
