A forgotten Final Fantasy

User Rating: 7.8 | Final Fantasy III NES
As the first two FInal Fantasy games are a major success in the company, Squaresoft release the third game in the series in 1990. Released for the
Famicom (known as NES in North America) in Japan, this is the only Final Fantasy game that hasn't made across the pacific. Since this game was originally made for the Famicom, its extremely rare to find a copy of this game today. But no worries fans across the pacific will be able to play this classic game once again through a remake in the Nintendo DS which will be released in November 2006.

So much for that anyway moving on. The story of Final Fantasy III focuses on four young boys who got lost in the Altar cave near the city of Ur. When they discovered a large crystal, it made a decision that it was the four of them who is going to save the world from the chaos that is yet to come. Giving them powers, the four heroes goes on a memorable journey that no one can explain. Sound boring to some but eventualy anyone who plays this game will fall in love with the story, trust me you'll like it.

Final Fantasy III uses a very unique job system in which your four heroes can switch between various roles to make a hard situation better. You must earn some capacity points in order to change jobs, weapons and armors. Each of the jobs has its own ups and downs so its up to you to choose the best jobs for your heroes. Also the leveling system has improve since the last Final Fantasy so its easier to build up the stats of your characters. So i must say this kind of system is probably the best in all of the Final Fantasy games so far.

The graphics are just good enough to call this game old school. It has improve since the last game. It has more colour and that what makes it pleasing to the eye. The characters and monsters are also well created not to mention the dungeons. As for the music its not that ear catching but credits anyway to Mr. Uematsu. The battle music pieces are nicely done and you will not easily get bored to them. Also if you fight a boss in the game a different tune will play everytime you fight one so this just makes the game a little more exciting.

Not probably the most memorable Final Fantasy game but this will give challenge to anyone especially die hard rpg fans and also Final Fantasy fanatics. The lenght of the game maybe short and easy to beat one can still play this all over again. In the end, memories are fragile things. I keep my memories of this game not only in my mind but also in my heart. This will always be considered as a valuable treasure.
