Not "bad", but still pretty mediocre compared to Doom and Doom 2.
-More Doom 2.
-Has over 64 new levels.
-Has new textures and music.
-Is more challenging then Doom or Doom 2.
The Bad:
-Level design is lame compared to Doom and Doom 2.
-Not actually made by Id.
-Has almost nothing new besides new levels.
Final Doom wasn't made by Id.
And it shows...a lot.
Simply put, Final Doom isn't very good.
Final Doom is basically a massive level pack split into 2 WADS called PLUTONIA and TNT and contains some new textures and music and nothing else.
That doesn't mean the game is horrible. It still has some decent levels here and there, but overall the levels are nowhere near as good as the ones designed by Id Software itself. Doom and Doom 2 blow this game out of the water in terms of level design.
This means that the only thing this game really has going for it are more levels. That may sound like enough for hardcore Doom fans, but seeing as lots of free (and better) use made levels exist for the game (and also did even at the time of this game's release) that doesn't seem very logical.
I think Final Doom will always go down in my memory as being that medicore installment into the Doom franchise that was outdone in terms of bad design only by the Master levels.
However there are still some good levels in this set so while Final Doom isn't great its at least not horrible. Its just kind of medicore.
Those who insist in owning every single Doom game (like me) should pick this up on STEAM or something. Otherwise there is no point and you could as well just download a user made level pack instead.
