FIFA 06 is the latest game in EA's soccer franchise. The game is mostly great with a few hic-ups.
The gameplay in FIFA 06 is a lot faster pace and it is smooth as butter most of the time. Sometimes when the gameplay gets to fast you do notice a few frame rate issues, but for the most part it is solid. One of the interesting things is that when i played as D.C. United I saw banners for La Norte, Barra Brava, and the Screaming Eagles (supporting groups for D.C. United) on the stadium walls. Goals feel less scripted in this version it may not be up to par with WE but it is a nice improvment over previous titles. Corners in the game are probably the easiest part to get goals and defending them is the hardest part.
The manager mode is the best feature of the game and is greatly improved over the 05 version. You get a low division club and then build with them on a 15 year campain to glory. It is also very difficult. Sometimes after games you will recieve complaints, praises, objectives such as "There is a sick fan in the hospital, and he says that will come to see your team when he heals" and then you have to decide whether to ignore him, send the whole team there,or just send him an autographed photo. You also have to manage your team and keep your players happy, trade or loan players, and select your staff. The only negative i can see here is that some people might be dissapointed that they can't play as Liverpool, Manchester United, or other bit time clubs in the manager mode to start out.
The again includes a much improved online mode, that is less laggy and has a ranking system. You can play with other soccer fans from all over North America and Europe. Some people who are trying out this game for the first time might get frustrated when the loose consistantly, but win your first game before giving up.
The presentation is amazing it feels like your watching a real game. Clive Tydsley and Andy Grey provide the comentary, and they do a pretty good job of delievering coments that push the game a long nicely. The soundtrack you will either love it or you will hate it. I liked to verrying of different songs from around the world. This game also includes many famous stadiums from many famous teams and few generic statdiums for lesser clubs.
To sum it all up FIFA 06 is a great game and will most likely out sell the WE series. The problems can be overlooked to find the best game in the FIFA series to date.
