More of the same. Which can be good and bad, but doesn't seem to add much to the FEAR franchise.

User Rating: 7.5 | F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate PC
Gameplay: 3.5/5
+ The gameplay is pretty much the same as FEAR and FEAR: Extraction Point. There are two new enemies and one new gun. Other than that it's the same basic formula. Which is good because FEAR and FEAR: EP were both really fun. But at this point it feels too derivative to be completely enjoyable. For an expansion that came out two years after the original game, I expected just a little something more. Another noticeable change is that there is a huge decrease in the horror element and an increase in the action element. Which again, might be fine but the one thing that made FEAR appealing was that it combined FPS and horror. If you take out the shock and fright moments then you lose the entire intention of the FEAR name.

Story/Presentation: 3.5/5
+ Again, this expansion isn't part of the official FEAR canon which is a shame. But it does a neat job of combining the timelines of both FEAR and FEAR:EP. There are some loopholes like how your character has the ability to use reflex mode. But working on a new team with new squad mates adds some extra pleasure to the game. Plus, you have a clearer and more tangible mission than in FEAR:EP.

Graphics: 3.5/5
+ Although the graphics are pretty much the same from FEAR and FEAR:EP, they're starting to get a little unimpressive. The first expansion could be excused because it was a year after the original was made. But for two years, at least something could have done to improve the graphics. But still, the graphics are decent enough to get through the game.

Value: 3.5/5
+ The game can last between 5 and 6 hours, a decent size for an expansion. One nice little addition is after you beat the game, three bonus missions are unlocked. Overall, it's hard to get the feeling that this game was entirely necessary. It's fun but it adds practically nothing new to FEAR and FEAR:EP. So if you really enjoyed the first two games then you'll get some extra time. But if you aren't entirely interested then you won't be missing out on too much if you skip it.
