User Rating: 8.5 | Project Zero II: Crimson Butterfly PS2
Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly raises the survival horror series up another notch. With it's beautiful graphics and astounding sound effects, FF2 is definately a game to get!

FF2 takes place in a small, seemingly abandonned, village that is surrounded in fog. You play as Mio Amakura, who is out with her twin sister in a forest were they used to play as children. Mio has a flashback of them running and Mayu falling, which causes her to walk with a limp throughout the game. When Mio comes back to reality, she notices Mayu is gone. Finally she finds her running through the forest. Mio follows, but can never really catch up. Eventually she does and both of them enter the small village of mystery. Mio finds a camera and the fight begins, solving puzzles, battling spirits and trying to find a way to escape. The story is very deep and heavy concentration is needed throughout the game.

The camera angles in this game are darn right frustrating. When you are trying to get Mio to walk into a small closet or door you'll be holding the anologue stick foward. Then once in the room, Mio will walk right back out and into the room you started. It takes a while to get used to, but can lead to major annoyances and brings the atmosphere down too.

Controls are simple enough, allowing Mio to run faster than Miku in the original game, despite the age differences. The spirt camera controls are easy enough too, allowing you to have an even higher exorcism film to kill spirts with.

The music in this game will have you on the edge of your seat, feeling jittery and on the edge. It's trademark jingle of a bell returns, with more skin crawling terror than before.

Enemies in this game are well designed, jumping out at you from under beds and around corners, they will no doubt make you very frightened. None of them have astounding special powers, but some will be much stronger and harder to kill than others.

This game is very good and if you don't already have it, go out and buy it. It'll be worth playing and you'll feel very satisfied at the end.
