Not bad If i must say so.

User Rating: 8.1 | Far Cry Instincts Evolution XBOX
People who played the first FarCry Instincts were for the most part impressed by what the game had to offer. Basically stunning graphics and immersive gameplay. FarCry Instincts Evolution doesn't stray far from its predecessor offering the same gameplay experience.

You again take control of our lead man, Jack Carver and you try to escape a dreadful island inhabited by a number unusual characters who either want to eat your girlfriend or simply trying to gut you. The foes or mercs you encounter mistake you for somebody else and try to take you out of the equation. So, simply put you have to get out alive using any weapons you come across. Again you can use stealth without trying to attract too much attention, but using it doesnt necessarily mean it'll pay off. Hiding in shrubs, trees or even long grass doesn't really work and it's not a required strategy to complete each mission or level. The NPCs somehow gain the use of X-RAY vision and see as if theres nothing to conceal you and before you know it they're barkin' fire. Although FarCry is known for its great gameplay, this sequal takes away the length of it. In other words FarCry is not nearly as long as the first FarCry. In fact Evolution is half of that. None of this should take away from the experience we've witnessed in the original because in FarCry Evolution the experience take a step up form what we've seen in the original.

Carbine riffle? Check. RC 90? Desert Eagle? Check. Tube grenades? Check check dammit. You get all the weapons you played in the original along with some new ones which come in handy from time to time, but not nearly enough. Take the new tube grenade for example which acts just like a regular pineapple grenade, only the tube grenade requires the push of a botton. You can use these badies to destroy sniper towers and well...thats pretty much it. Using it for anything else other than towers is pointless. You can use it to blow up boats or what have you, but why would you want to do that when you have pineapples? I can't forget about the explosive fire-in-a-bottle weapon. This can be fun when you throw it directly on the enemy, and if you do nail him he runs in terror screaming while being burned alive. Not a bad idea to throw in the loop. Remember the gun turrets? Well this time you can unhinge them and take it anywhere with you gunning down anything with ease. This can slow you down, but it's effective.

The vehicles haven't changed, however there are new ones. The land vehicles still respond to every bump on the road, still feeling light, and some don't respond too well in turns. I guess the physics are right when it comes to turning heavy vehicles. They still pack a mean punch when you want to clear an area or get from one place to another faster. Same goes for the boats.

Now this is what made FarCry so distinctive in the first place. The use of believable tropical trees, rocks, sand, grass, shodows, night and day. They all play an important roll in the game. Generally speaking when you play a game, you would like to be playing it knowing how good the graphics are because in a sense in just adds a little if not a lot of value or quality to it. FarCry Evolution does just that. Every now and then you're enclined to just explore the lush island of surreality and ponder to yourself how they can put together such an eye candy of a game. That brings me to the create-a-map mode. Yes everythings still there when your making your dream world and it takes forever to perfect it just to make it worth playing online otherwise prepare to be scolded by others by your laziness and your lack of creativity to make something so utterly annoying and hardly believing that you can bring something like this online! Anyway, the frame rate in FarCry Evolutions tends to get in the way, because of the contents displayed onscreen all at once. At times it can get bad enough to where you want to turn off the damn game, reminding you how bad Kotor II was.

Looking for a FPS action adventure? Try this game out for size. It's worth playing.
