Fable is one of them games that wanted so much more for its self and aimed so high that when it fell it broke every bone in its body and is still trying to heal up from its fall. Now this is not down to the game but down to one man....Who is this man well most of you may already know but for thoses who do not his name is Peter Molyneux....He hyped this game up so much and got the people looking forward to this game so fired up about it that when it came out people where shocked....It was not a brilliant game it was not the open living world that Peter Molyneux spoke about....it had failed.

While all that is true if you wash away all the hype and build up and get to know Fable you may well find it to be a fun if not an average RPG. Fable is set in the world called Albion and the player starts off as a boy who during the early stage of the game becomes orphaned. Now this being a RPG game this can only realy lead to one thing the boy will dream about and then become a mighty hero...or will he.

As some of you may know Fable is a game about choice. How you complete quests or weater or not you take a quest up shape how your character will look....so be evil and do evil things you will start to look evil...Fight for the side of good and do good deeds then your look will reflect that.

Now i do not realy want to break more of the story open so i will leave it at that and get down to how the game is played. There are three ways to deal with people in combat with you (or anyone who is fighting you) First up is melee then there is ranged combat and the third is the use of magic which can range from effecting time to having an all powerfull spell of doom to lay waste to your foes.

Now unlike most RPGs Fable has a EXP system but it works differantly. The way you kill an enemy effects what type of EXP you will be rewarded with...So kill them with a spell you will get EXP to put into magic...beat them over the head with a melee weapon or your fists and you get EXP for that and so on....Not only that but you also get General EXP that can be spent on any of them and you gain that mainly through completing quests.

Not only will the points you put in help you in combat but they will also along with the good/evil actions you do change how your guy looks. So when 4-6 people are playing Fable there guys are going to look nothing like the others by the time they reach end game.

Fable came out in September 14, 2004 on the Xbox it has also been ported to the PC and has had another game that has added features and quests to go along with the main quest line and that is called Fable: The Lost Chapters that came out in September 2005.

It may well not be a perfect game. It may well not be the game that Peter Molyneux said it was going to be but still if you looking for a RPG just to have a little fun in then this may well be the game for you....Just do not expect great things from it.
