Although incredibly slow at times, this is a game that allows you to become whoever you want, and make a real impact.

Ever wanted to play an online game, where you could start off like everyone else, but end up controlling the entire world?

In EvE Online, you can do that, and even better, every person in the entire world who plays EvE, plays on one consistent server.

You will start the game off as a "Capsuleer", a Capsuleer is essentially a normal person, who has bought a PLEX (Pilots Licence Extension, but more on that later) and now has access to a clone.
Every player in EvE has a clone, and if you die, there are real repercussions.
For example, if you die while moving a massive load of cargo from one station to another, you lose all the cargo, AND your ship, and you end up in a pod, NPC's won't destroy your pod, but other players will, and when that happens, you go back to your clone.

Because you can actually lose your ships, you really feel it when your main ship gets destroyed, and you're left with nothing.
It also means that all ores in the game, which are found by mining asteroids, are always in need, unlike in other MMO games, where after a while everyone has that super weapon, and there's almost no demand for it, in EvE there is always a demand for every item.

When you first begin playing, you will have the option to do some tutorials, or you could just try going off on your own, but the game has a lot of different mechanics, and trying to learn them with no help, would be incredibly hard.
You are also given free ships at the end of each tutorial, which will save you a lot of time and effort.

As I mentioned earlier, there is an item in the game called PLEX, which is the equivalent of 30 days game time, which you buy from the website and apply to your account, but where this item gets interesting, is in the fact that you can sell it to other players for game money, which of course also means, you can BUY game time legitimately with game money.
There is also a new (as of writing) store called the Nexus, where you can buy clothes and stuff for another in game item called Aurum, which is basically bought with real money, but the good thing is, none of these items have any game affecting attributes other than to make your character look cooler/like an idiot.
At the moment the prices on clothes are quite high, however it is also less than a week old at the moment, so I will give it time before coming up with a real opinion on it.

Also, I should mention that you are now able to walk around inside a "Captains Quarters" which are based at all stations, and they will be slowly opening up the rest of the station over the year, about 5 years too late, but at the moment it looks promising, and better late than never, right?

All in all, I have to say this is one of the most intriguing and immersive games I've played in a while, at first you won't think so, but over time you will begin to understand the intricacies of the game more, and sooner or later, you can be in a fleet with a bunch of other players, taking over entire systems and planets, or if you prefer a more laid back approach, you can do that too, in EvE, you can be whatever you want to be, you just have to have the patience, and the determination.
