At first glance, EO3 looks like a typical dungeon crawling game like Wizardry games that you play in the old days. You recruit characters of different occupation and you can set their attributes to their skill points(without a roll of the dice). Then you set your adventure slaying monsters and get stronger as you progress.

However, EO3 charm is more like a strategic/tactical RPG in comparison to Final Fantasy style games. There are literally hundreds of combination that you can create when forming your adventurers and this is where EO3 shines.
In order to win and progress in the game, you need to build a team that compliment their individual skills.

As you progress during the game you will realize that some classes do not compliment well with others so you have an option to build another character or reset their skills to maximize their traits. A great feature that they added in E03 is to allow characters to gain experience points even if they are not in the 'active' group. So what you can do is create 'specialized' classes of characters, let them 'sit on the bench' allow them to gain experience points and then use them for a specific task like 'farming' items for certain quests.

There is a NEW GAME plus to extend the adventure further. There are now three main endings of the game and you can unlock 2 hidden classes depending on your decisions. There is an overhead game where you can gain more quests and you can use for grinding to level up your characters.
All in all players who like experimenting and strategizing using different playstyles will love this game.

The game is very hard but do not let this discourage you from getting the game. The best possible playing experience comparison for this game is Demon Souls and Dark Souls that sold millions of copies even after critics and game reviewers gave it a bad score due to its unforgiving gameplay.

It is only hard when you don't plan ahead and be patient. Your party will be wiped out over and over again if you don't think ahead. Tip: it is better to run and fight the next day rather than lose all your hard earned XP.
The feeling of downing an END GAME golden dragon is both exhilirating and satisfying! To me that is what gaming is all about!
