When 2k5 came out back in the summer of 2004, everyone thought it was a great game, and a steal at $20. But ever since EA sports bought the exclusive rights to use the NFL, NCAA, and Arena Football league in only thier games, 2k had to shut down its NFL football game business for good, well at least until 2012 when EA's license expires. And that year is now a year that all 2k fans (and many maddenites) look forward too, because lets face it...madden was way better before 06. Back then they actually tried to make unique and high quality football games. in fact, madden 2004 has to be my favorite madden ever. Nowadays, madden is just basically the same game as the year before with a roster update and "new" features that should have been in the game way before or features that were in previous maddens but they are putting them into the new maddens and marketing them as "new" features. for example, gang tackling was like one of the things madden advertised for 08. but if u play madden 06, (not 07, cuz for some reason they took out gang tackling in that game, and now we know why) u will see many gang tackles, and actually in 2004 almost every tackle is a gang tackle. and so EA trys to make us forget about the little things and re introduce them as huge improvements.

Heres a list of features that should have been in previous maddens that as a matter of fact are ALL in 2k5

-latteraling
-return short field goals
-QB avoidence, thats a new feature in the ps2 version of 09, and it wus in 2k5, AND it was in ncaa football since like 08, and they replaced qb vision with it in 09
-customizable soundtracks
-a true espn presentation, wich madden still doesnt have even though it has all rights to use espn stuff
-combo running moves, like stringing together spins and jukes
-being able to create teams and use them in franchise mode, the older maddens had this, but they took this out for sum reason.
-maximum passing, like tilting the stick up to throw a high pass, or down to throw a short pass, right or left to throw a pass further rite or left., sumthing madden introduced in 07.

And so those are some examples of how 2k5 was (and still is) FAR surperior to madden. And as people have begun comparing the new versions of madden to 2k5, more and more people have realized just how truly amazing 2k5 is, and it has actually increased 2k5's popularity becus so many people want CHANGE, and 2k5 gives it. The graphics are truly amazing, like it has the graphics of an early xbox 360 game, the players actually interact and move and react like REAL nfl players would. its like they actually CARE about winning the game, because if the balls tipped, they dont give up, they fight for the ball until they catch it, and then they celebrate. also first person football is a very fun feature, it really makes u feel like ur a reall football player. also its fun to watch the halftime show becus its just like watching sportscenter on tv, and u get to watch all the amazing plays and shove it in ur friends face. and the franchise mode is fantastic, the amount of depth is incredible and u can watch sportscenter after every week and its cool to see things that happend in other games during that sunday. and the amount of control u have while running/tackling is truly amazing. the only complaints i have of 2k5 is that when u throw passes that are a little over the heads of ur players or alittle too far to the rite or left, instead of sprinting for the ball, the players DIVE for it, and they always fall like 7 yards short of the football, when if they had kept on sprinting, they could have caught it. also breaking tackles via the triangle/Y button is WAY too easy, and breaking tackles via juking/ spinning is WAY too hard, and so they should have made juking and spinning easier and power break tackleing harder.

So in conclusion, 2k5 is deffinately to this day still the best football game around, and now u can buy it for like 7 dollars at a lot of stores, and i hear gamestop sells it used for like $1. and so if ur sick and tired of madden cheating u, or ur just looking for something new, get 2k5, prefferably for xbox if u have one because the graphics are a lot better on xbox. also u can download roster updates off the internet, and so u wont have to complain about still using rich gannon on the raiders and having john kitna on the crappy bengals, even though personally i like using the old rosters. i mean come on, who wouldnt want to throw a awesome one handed td from culpepper to randy moss?
