Let me start by saying that when I first played this game, I was about 11. On top of that, it was probably my first RPG. It was an exciting game to journey through, and memories were made. Heck it even came with a strategy guide that doubled as a tourist guide.

Let me start by addressing the game play. MODERN. No sorcery, armor, magic potions. Instead we have 12 year olds with telekinesis, hats and burgers. The battle system is great, very user friendly. You might of heard of the AUTO WIN feature in this game, where if your party has more experience and is stronger than your enemy, you get an automatic win and the experience points to go along with it. The fun thing about Earthbound is that you can find a burger in a trash can and eat it.Earthbound is a very easy game to get into, straight from the get go you should be eager to hear the story. It also has a lot of cool features, one even being able to throw you into the game, I won't tell you how, play for your self. Earthbound also has a great money and item system. You don't gain money from defeating enemies (which can include a cat, a New Age Retro Hippy and even a electrosphere), you acquire it from your father who deposits it into the bank for you.

The story of Earthbound starts off in the small town of Onett an the country of Eagleland. Within your first hour of game play you should be able to see all the sights that Onett has to offer. You will learn of your extraordinary abilities from parents and a little friend from far away. Your journeys take you to far off places and weird subterranean villages, you can even visit your own subconscious.

The sound of the game is amazing, especially the battle music. Its so great. The graphics...here's the stick part. Some people will love them while others will hate them. I thought they were beautiful, A little kiddy, but they were supposed to look that way. Overall, I'd say they were amazing.

Finally my ''rent or buy'' speech. I wouldn't bother renting this, that is if you can still find a place that rents SNES games. BUY IT, its just so much fun! Also be sure you get the Large game guide that is supposed to come with it. Else, keep looking for a complete version of this classic. Earthbound is one game that will not disappoint.
