A decent RPG, even by today's standards.

Most people know 'Ness' just as that guy from 'Super Smash Bros.' who can throw an assortment of psychic attacks at his enemies, but not many people know much about him other than that. As you may have guessed, Ness is the main protagonist from the Super Ninendo RPG "Earthbound". In 'Earthbound', Ness wakes in the middle of the night to find a meteor has crashed on top of a mountain near his house. Upon inspection, he uncovers a small insect-alien that bestows the power of 'Psi' upon him so that he can collect eight different parts to a stone to save the world from the 'Starmen'.

The artistic style behind this game is very colourful and unique, and it would be hard to imagine it looking as good as it does without the heavy pixelation. Unfortunately, the enemies in 'Earthbound' don't look as colorful and brilliant as the rest of the game, giving them a somewhat dull and uninteresting feel to them.

Most of the audio in 'Earthbound' is pretty good in the towns, with nice memorable music that would also be considered 'good' by today's standards. Although i personally find the music in battles to be droning and monotonous to such an extent that I nearly feel infuriated by it after an hours play.

Earthbound is a decent RPG and a wonder that it was made so many years ago while still being this good today. It contains a quirky and enthralling story, brilliant art style and a fun witty script that will leave you giggling at bits and pieces throughout 'Earthbound'. Unfortunately the battles can be quite uninteresting (with the exception of boss fights, mind you) and almost boring, but the rest of the game does more than make up for this.
