Incredibly innovative gameplay is enough to justify playing this game at least once.

EVO is a really interesting game. The premise is basically to evolve your beastie into a killing machine in each area you visit. While this seems like a borefest, the gameplay is truly innovative and fun. Gameplay: EVO is an exceedingly unique title. You go from being a simple fish to being a dominant dinosaur throughout the course of the game. You can upgrade various things on your creature, evolving it into the ultimate killing machine. Collecting evolution points that creatures you kill mysteriously drop allows you to purchase these evolutions. I would classify this is an action RPG. There is little storyline present, but it really isnt needed. EVO has the same type of addictive gameplay that keeps me playing pokemon to this day (yes I know, sad). It is incredibly fun to watch your creature evolve into a nightmare to anything on land or under the sea. Graphics: The graphics are great for the SNES, utilizing some pretty unique techniques to get the job done very well. Sound: Well there isn't enough to really give this category anything more than a 6. I wish there were more music and sound effects. Value: While one playthrough will do you just fine, that playthrough is enough to get a lot of enjoyment out of a relatively easy and addicting game. Tilt: EVO is a great game for those looking for a nice short diversion in some spare time.
