Give this title a decent chance!

First of all, I'll admit that I'm both a DW fan and a Gundam fan. That said, I don't blindly buy each respective title, nor have I watched every episode of the ubiquitous Gundam franchise. However, after playing this new installment, I'm convinced that this is the best game of either series.

I began the game as Char (of course), and was quite worried that I had wasted my purchase. The 1st level was monotonous, and I felt extremely underpowered. By level 2 I had quickly realised my folly. Dash and Smash attacks had been added, much to the delight of my Koei weary fingers. These simple additions add a lot to the gameplay and ultimately allow for much more satisfying action. Unfortunately, it would seem as though some critics (especially xplay) didn't take the time to learn this.

I get the feeling that this game got unfairly judged by those that didn't give it a chance. DW Gundam2 matches up quite well with contemporary action games. For example, I just completed the new Wolverine game yesterday, and found myself yearning for more Gundam action. In the end, I feel the new DW is slightly superior to that title based on content alone, and I'm a HUGE fan of Marvell's favorite mutant.

Overall, the graphics in DW Gundam2 are a little sterile, but they get the job done. On the other hand, the music and voice acting is stellar. Previous DW games have had terrible acting, but this game has the benefit of employing most of the anime personalities. This is no doubt due to Bandai's involvement. Those who criticize the voices obviously were biased based on the previous DW games.

In the end, I recommend any DW fan to pick up this game. If you like gundam, then all the better. I wholeheartedly believe this game to be the best in its genre, as it offers an endless amount of action with an acceptable level of polish to boot. Please be cautious of various game critics. They don't have the luxury of absorbing the finer details of more complex games such as this.
In the end, you might be pleasantly surprised when you disagree with them...
