Let me start by saying this game may just not be my thing.

In about 2005 I played Dynasty Warriors 3 or 4, something like that, and it was ok. Nothing special but not bad. About 4 months ago I watched some trailers and things for DW7 and was hearing good things, and it looked like the series had really improved. So I rented it, and I'm glad I rented it instead of spending very much money buying it.

The graphics in the cut-scenes were mediorce at best, and would have been accepted in around 07. The graphics throughout the rest of the game are so far behind the times I cant even put it into words.

The game-play felt dated and like I had done it before; mainly because I had done it before, in like 2005. Nothing had changed. Around the 5th game I would have expected an update on game-play just to keep the hardcore fans intrested. I'm guessing they didn't do that update.

The story is where this game shines. The game features 4 full length stories and an in-depth Conquest mode that allows you to play hundreds of single battles that run parallel to the story mode. The problem is each of the 4 stories will take between 8-10 hours. And since each story is the exact same, only from the point of view of a different Kingdom the story gets very boring the 3rd time through. I struggled through the rest of the third kingdom's story and the 4th story.

If this is your style game, or you're a die hard fan of the Dynasty Warriors series then pick this one up. If not, leave that 50 bucks in your pocket and wait for it to hit the bargin bins. If you are just dying to play a hack and slash game then do yourself a favor and keep this out of your ps3 or xbox 360 and play Diablo 2.
