Say hello... To my little friend !

User Rating: 8.5 | Drakengard 2 PS2
I'll won't give any information about the game at this moment, so I'll just start with the review right away! I'll rate it part by part. Graphics, Music, Gameplay, Story, etc.

Graphics:
The graphics are nice, but are a bit outdated. It could be better for the time of the year when the game was made. But yet not very bad for the PlayStation 2.
You can see blood in the game (Yay!) and the "light" that shines at the opponent when you hit him.
So I'll give the Graphics a 7.5

Music:
The music is nice, sometimes a bit repetitive. I've played the game for about 6 times, so the music is getting boring now since you know all the soundtracks. When I just started playing the game the music was pretty, but not very good.
So Music is given a 7.5

Gameplay:
The gameplay is very nice, it reacts very quickly and the controls are easy. Just mashing on the Square and Triangle button, nothing more, nothing less. There are about 3 - 5 combo's per weapon. That isn't very much, but since there are a LOT of weapons it doesn't really bother me. Although most of the combo's are being used by other weapons too. The only big difference with the combo's is between the characters (Spear - Eris, Longsword - Nowe, Short-sword - Nowe, etc.)
Now comes the fun part of the Ground Missions:
You can also use your Dragon to blast the monsters back to where they came from. Although this is very easy to kill the monsters, it is still fun and very destructive. You've also got magic as you fly above the ground with your Dragon. You'll start with 2 Magic Bars (when your Dragon is level 1) and when you keep the Circle button pressed you'll charge up a destructive power. The longer you press the button, the further the Magic Bars are charged. Since you just have 2 Magic Bars, you just have 2 of those destructive powers. When you release the button you will see a cut-scene where your Dragon Legna will release it's power onto the enemies. Mainly more enemies are killed. Yay!
But that are just Ground Missions

You've also got Aerial Missions (YAY - DRAGONS!)
You can lock on monsters and blow the hell out of them with guided fire missiles or just shooting on them with the cursor without keeping the Square button pressed what should give a bigger (and way stronger) fireball.
You've also got Breath Spheres, which are sphere's that you can only pick up when you shoot an UNguided missile at a monster (and kill it)
In time you will get different Breath Sphere's. Red, Blue, White, Etc. Each with their own powers. And all destructive. (Mwhaha)
Though I still prefer the Ground Missions.
Gameplay: 9

Story:
I really got attracted to the story. It is nice and the cutscene's (Not the text-scrolling part.. That's just in-game) are very nice and get's me really into the game. I am really waiting for such cutscene though. Especially in the end give me the pimples =) But that hasn't much to do with the Story, but either way, the story is nice and good constructed. In the beginning is not very interesting but gives you a good introduction and later on you will get sucked in the story (if you like these games, with this kind of stories - Doh..)
Story: 8.5

Replay:
The game should be replayed, since when you replay the game you will unlock first of all
- New weapons (Ones you couldn't get on the first play-through)
- New other unlockables
You can unlock still unlock weapons the third play-through.
Replay: 9

Difficulty:
As said above I've rated it Just Right. Because the game has it difficult parts (Mainly at the end, with boss battles) and in the beginning it's just frigging easy. Even if you're just new to this game. It could have been a bit more challenging though.
Difficulty: 7

Time Spent Playing:
I've played this game for more than 40 hours. Since I've played this game about 6 times. You can play this game (mentioned above) 3 times, if you still want to unlock new items and other things. This will take some time, so that's why I said the Time Spent Playing, to Date is 40 - 100 hours.
Time Spent Playing: 8

So with all of the notes given it will come to an average of a:

8.1 - Well deserved.

I hope this review helped you in your thoughts about buying this game.
Have fun!

Greetings,

Yrill.
