Ehhhh, sorta

this game is certainly an odd one, i played and loved the first one and picked this one up mostly for nastalgea... nastalgia... whatever, anyway, when i put this game in to my ps2 i expected an emmersive and cinnematic experience, and i'm still not quite sure if i got it or not; the cinnematic graphics are superb while the gameplay graphics leave something to be desired, not being bad enough to condem the game but at the same time, irritatingly inferior to the cinnematics, you are provided a selection of four characters from which to choose, each having their own unique and invaluable strengths and weaknesses, for instance one character is strong against knights, and another is strong against the undead, this adds greatly to the depth and strategy involved in the gameplay, that is, it would if they'd let you keep all your characters throughout, for instatnce the chick who is strong against the undead is only usable for i think 2 or 3 missions, while the unead are prevelant throughout the game, hence the irritation, your weapons for each character are unique and vary greatly from each other in fighting styles, leveling up and making available new combos is somewhat limited though, only four levels per weapon, also many of the combos that are learned by one weapon are re-learned by others, further adding to the strategy, the camera is... well, kind of a crack head, always somehow right behind you and unhelpful, i went through a good portion of this game swinging randomly at monsters they may or may not have been there, the story is interesting and ties itself into the first game, although some of the mythology involved may be slightly overwhelming, boss battles can range anywhere from sadisticly challenging to laughably easy, my biggest gripe with this game (aside from the camera) is the sheere number of air battles which, irritatingly enough, eat up health potions like no other, but provide absolutely no gold, this becomes trouble towards the end of the game when ground missions are few and far in between and you've already spent all your gold on a weapon that you never get to use, after a certain point the story just starts to get weird and hard to follow, as if there is some manual about dragon and god history that they forgot to include in the case, also the story comes to a climax, causes the end of the world, and then keeps going, this confuses me greatly, i'm not sure if i loved that part or hated it, also almost all of the voice cast speaks with an english accent which becomes very, VERY annoying as the game goes on; in short, this game is a bit difficult to rate, i'd suggest renting it before buying
