Well, I don't feel much like a vampire hunter...

When i first loaded this game and stepped into the shoes of Van Helsing, I was expecting more of an action/adventure type of game. The type that would have me fighting off zounds and zounds of the undead whilst tracking down the notorious Dracula to the heart of Transylvania.

That was not to be so. What I found instead was a game that had me looking for tools or equipment to use on obstacles (or looking for obstacles to use my tools/equipment on), with a generous helping of puzzle-solving - all so that i could advance to new areas, where more tools, obstacles and puzzles would be waiting.

Luckily, most of the puzzles posed enough of a challenge to make me want to keep on playing, if only to prove to myself that I could solve them, all the while advancing the story line.

Unfortunately, the story itself falls short of the game's beautiful graphics, with the storyline so choppy that sometimes you find yourself wondering how one thing led to the other.

Why so? This is because a good portion of the game is spent trying to solve puzzles and using the right objects in the right places instead of getting caught up in an engaging storyline (which is, unfortunately, non-existent in this game).

In the end, what you have is a puzzle-solving game with good graphics, easily playable all the way to the end in just a day.

Bottomline: Don't buy it. You're better off spending your money on other similar games like Mysteryville: Return to Ravenhearst (yes, I am comparing Dracula: Origin to this game for the similarity in concept and gameplay - and unfortunately, the latter is actually a better buy). And unless you're a real fan of these kinds of games, I don't recommend that you rent it.
