Epic! This game does justice to rare and what a masterpiece this game is. The game is perfect in every aspect!
The game is based around two monkey's in search of Donkey Kong. Diddy Kong is the nephew of Donkey Kong and Dixy (who is along side Diddy in the game) is Diddy's girlfreind. Yes you maybe thinking why there all called Kong's when they are monkeys not gorillas,it is because the Japanese got confused between the difference!
The game is high in depth and will take you appx.100 hours on your first attempt to master the game. Which is exceptional value! There are 7 worlds and each world has 1 lost level to complete. Each world ranges from 6-9 levels,meaning that there are 6-9 different settings and dilema's to complete. The format of the game is layed out as a smart and witty Platformer with abilities and capabilities of riding on different species ie:swordfish,rhyno and parrot.
There are several things to collect in the game ie: "Kremcoins","DK coins" and "banana coins". The effect and use of Kremcoins are to give this large and fiendish guard these coins which allows you to go into the lost level in each of the 7 worlds (only 1 lost level in each world). However the DK coins come in hardly any use as there is 1 in each level in the game (none in boss fights) and are used for a collection and once you have finished the game you can have a complete percentage if you have all of the DK coins and completed each level. The banana coins let you buy stuff and transport through worlds,they are commonly found in every stage around 4 of them in each stage. You can use them to pay Funky for a trip to another world and pay cranky for some hints. Also they are extremely important as you need them to go to Wrinkly and save your progress.
The idea was similar to the first game,bashing enemies along the way to the end of the level whilst going into bonuses and searching for hidden secrets. This type of game can be used innovative ie:finding shortcuts and tutoring your self to find different tricks.
The game had around appx.25 core songs (main level songs). There was a whole different variety of songs whilst some were just magnificent. Each world has their different songs suiting to the conditions,the lava world has hot and boiling effects to the song. The songs are not made from recycled bits so it is to give a new experience.
Some good and helpful features in the game are that there are some secret cheats, "Funky's flights" which allows you to transport through different worlds instead of restarting the game and Cranky who gives you some tips on how to find some bonuses and DK coins.
THE VERDICT
Graphics: Superb 2D with amazing backgrounds in each level!
Gameplay: Epic! The great feel of bashing enemy's and running through stages is amazing and is the greatest gameplay you will find in any game. Truly great. The feeling of hopping into barrels and flying with the help of Dixie is so amazing and reminiscing over the great fun this game provides.
Sound: Best soundtrack ever with such variety.
Value: Its going to give you hours of gameplay and a cool multi-player mode.
