Another masterpiece re-imagined!

User Rating: 10 | Disney Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse PS3
With the recent release of the popular NES game, DuckTales: Remastered I was on the edge of my seat when I saw that the classic Sega Genesis game, Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse was being re-imagined for a new generation.

I have to say the game did not fall short either. The graphics are stunning, the levels are odd in that there's not just one way to the end, riddled with secret areas and items all around.

The 2D to 3D levels add a certain depth that is comforting to a player who grew up in the 80's and 90's while entertaining the depth and calculations needed to succeed in a 3D environment.

I will be the first to admit I am a "classic" gamer, someone who loves the old school 8-bit, 16-bit 2D worlds, but I also enjoy the 3D environments that open a world up to endless possibilities. This game has a smidge of both, in its own right.

Easy enough for a child to play, 3 difficulties available on start, yet challenging enough for the avid gamer who wants more and isn't satisfied until every secret area and item in unlocked.

The game is a no brainer, must have, for those who grew up in the 8-bit/16-bit era, and for those with children who want a game that tells a story, yet is kid friendly and fun. (It is old-school Mickey Mouse, so very kid-friendly for any child who plays video games, yet will prove challenging to the younger younger kids.)

My rating 5 stars, A++, must have!

Time to complete game on normal difficulty: 1-4 hours played straight through
(not going out of your way for extra items)

Ease of play: Easy to moderate

Story: Well thought through and imagined

Last thoughts: The game is perfectly priced, as to not make a huge dent in your wallet for a "shorter" game.
