Good Game (Loved Diablo and Diablo II) - Single Player games shouldn't require a online server.... should they?

Would have gave the game a better score but I have just been kicked off because of server maintenance... (I am not even playing multi-player but got kicked off) Not sure who's genius idea it was to require a constant server connection to play - but they need to get a life. (Now as far as the game play - it reminds of Diablo II with much better graphics and sound! Storyline so far is good, as well as the atmosphere (Playing as a barbarian - who is bad-a**) Plays smoothly on my laptop - much smoother than Witcher 2 (But this game isn't near the next gen as Witcher 2 (Graphically speaking)
Been waiting a long time for this game -So with that said, it is a little bit of a let down... (Server issues...? You have had 11 years to make this game - how long does it take?) Maybe they need to get with Atlus or Bethesda - and find out how a finely tuned game gets released like (Dark Souls/Demon Souls/Elder Scrolls IV)
