The best survival horror RPG of all time.

User Rating: 9 | Demon's Souls PS3
In the wake of the death of survival horror genre when every other franchise that shows even the slightest bit of potential are CODised comes along Demon's souls ; a ray of hope in the darkness of corporate greed.
Till now all of us have come to know the fact that Demon's souls is one of the toughest game of the current (if not of all time) generation. The story leaves you with no other objective but to survive. Here one misstep can cause sudden death, try to run and gun and you will be shred to pieces within seconds, someone's footsteps and breath can make heart beat at a turbo level, ignore certain platforming sections and you will be left clueless about shortcuts and particular game progressing elements and ofcourse forget about any kind of handholding that current generation of games have been feeding you with "Press X to not die" things and all.A bit of advise keep internet enabled cell or laptop handy so that you can get an idea about the elements that you find in the game because if you rely on info the game provides you then you're gonna have a bad time!! You can only rely upon the messages left by someone but you would still not be sure that whether the message states the truth or how exactly can you use that information.
Although not as big or expanded as Dark souls,Demon's souls has laid the very foundation upon which the other entries in the series can build upon.I select those games that have a story to tell, but this game is a completely different case.It neglects the story but still completely avoids being a mind numbing button masher. And the multilayer is a complete breath of fresh air unlike any other game. You can invade some other guy's game making his/her life a bit more miserable or you can help someone defeating a merciless boss.
Impressive as it is I have some gripes with this game. RPG elements here are not as elaborated as other games, just providing you with only class and very basic stats selection. You can only upgrade you weapons but not your armor. The world tendency and character tendency is completely confusing. The final boss fight is a dud and the the game has some online issues. But still for a first game in the the series it has done an excellent job providing with a brutal experience that will make you cringe but still keeps you coming back for more.
