Instant fun, that's what I had when I turned DeathSmiles on, I loved the sprite base graphics, fantastic animation and most importantly, the gameplay that's just remaining of my childhood playing shooters. Not that it needs an story but this game has one too, and you even get a chance o choose the ending after you beat the final boss, but not spoilers here.

You have a few different characters to choose and you'll unlock a couple of characters when you beat the game a few times. They're pretty much the same, different ammo but you always have a little satellite sidekick that will help you with the shooting. The screen can be fulled with projectiles at some points, but the interesting part is that just your heart is the spot you have to keep safe, it's the only spot on your body that can get hit.

The flaw of this game, which is not even a flaw depending on how you play, is that there are infinite continues and you even re-start at the same place, this makes the game quite easy and takes the fear of getting hit. It's a very short game, that can be beat in under 20min, with a few alternative routes that you can take or even play all them.

I fully recommend this game to shooter fans or somebody that just loves quick quirky fun games.
