More games should adopt the level of intrigue and excitement that this game dishes out.

User Rating: 9.5 | Dead Space PS3
Storyline: This is one of the greatest aspects of this game with the main plot taking place in the vastness of outer space. The missions begin with your rescue team sent to investigate the mysterious loss of contact with a mining station. All hell breaks loose when a series of unfortunate events unfold causing the rescue team to have to start worrying about saving themselves. The sequence of progression is pretty fluid up to the point where the tram car is unblocked in order to perform other various missions across the entirety of the ship. They get redundant with having you to go to certain parts of the ship to either repair an engine, find a key card, or some other predictable challenge. However routine they become, there's some additions to the objectives with frightening boss battles, fps-style cannons that blow apart asteroids threatening to impact the hull, and zero gravity while space walking the outside of ship. Lastly noted, the ending is a little disappointing compared to the introduction, but the sad fact that the game is over outweighs that disappoint.

Gameplay: The mission redundancy isn't quite so boring, and really overshadowed by the fact that the gameplay is just awesome. The little innovations of the developing team to incorporate the health status on the spine of your character's suit is just a part of what makes this game a standout from other action/adventures. The sound effects are phenomenal and really profound in giving a perception of what it's really like to explore the boundaries of outer space. Also, I can't leave out the shooting system brought by this game. It's based on having to accurately shoot off the arms or legs of the aliens instead of the mindless aim and fire attitude of recent titles. It requires a sense of concentration in a world full of fear and tension. Not to mention, the weapons are ingeniously represented as a tool from the mining ship in which you graciously use as a killing one. There's also a system of upgrades for them, which allows for some replay value after the game is beaten.

Graphics: What can I not say good about this? The hardwork and diligence of the technical directors along with the detail of the creative drawings worked well...really well. This is how PS3 games should look. From the inside corridors and control rooms of the station to the asteroid belts and celestial bodies the visuals are stunningly realistic.

Conclusion: One of the most creative and visually aspiring games of our time. The plot is original, the controls and gameplay are fun to work with, and the graphics are superb. The only drawbacks I found in this game were some repetitive mission objectives, the disappointing ending, and not being able to extend your play into the landscape of the nearby planets. Overall, I was sorry for this game to end, and would think anybody interested in outer space exploration would adore this game.
