A great preview of Dead Rising 2, but seems slightly rushed.

Dead Rising 2: Case Zero is a playable prologue for Dead Rising 2, which links it with its prequel.

You play as Chuck Greene, a motocross driver who is on hhis way to Fortune City with his daughter. Of course, the zombie outbreaks from the first game has not been stopped, and you are forced to mow your way through the zombies to reach there.

You stop for gas at a station in a small town, but your car is stolen and you are forced to take shelter in the town full of zombies.

The gameplay is very simple, but hugely fun. The various possible ways of killing the zombies makes for a very fun game. The objectives are simple, but getting to the places is the fun part.

You do not get a wide range of objectives - it tends to be just 'collect this' or 'save this person', which is a shame, and hopefully this is improved in the full retail game.

The survivors you encounter have an awful AI system. They sometimes struggle to be able to follow you, let alone fight for themselves. Another component of the AI which is lacking is voice acting. Its a pain to have to read their dialogue while trying to fight of zombies.

The combinable weapon system is a huge success, despite the low number of choices (which will be much greater in the full game). Some of the items you encounter are VERY fun to use against the zombies.

One final complaint about this game - the driving mechanics is awful.

Other than these complaints, the game is SUPERB. Despite its short gametime, I felt very happy to play through it again and get another of the many endings. I truly enjoyed playing and exploring this small town, and this game should keep me busy until the full game is released. A real bargain at 400 MS POINTS.
