Anno 1404 is a game with lots of strategy and fun. Both, in fact, are especially about matters of economics. Needs of people, one has in the game, must be satisfied succesfully so they can grow in numbers that leads stronger society and organisation. This is the basic application of the game's logic. When one only has peasents at the beginning he will reach citizens, patricians, etc. by constructing necessary buildings through which they will provide the products like bread, wine, war machines, and so on to people and lead the civilization advancement. Not very complex way of taxation accompanies with it. Simply when taken much people move out and less people move in. But the most basic side of the game is warfare. Fighting against enemies is obviously secondary both in respect of the weight it takes in the operation of the game and the way it is conducted. I mean while varieties and applications of building construction, production, and manufacturing of goods are perfectly complex and enjoyable, fighting is in the level of choosing with left and attack with right clicks. This simplicity, interestingly, makes the economics more important and the game very successful.
